Satellite, Terrestrial, Cable, IP and Mobile Television Discuss, diy satellite at International Chat: Hardware related forum; Hi, I live in Australia (sydney) and i wish to know more about installing a satellite dish . Is there anyone from OZ (should i limit myself to the southern hemisphere?) that has done their own installation. COuld someone please guide me? I am mainly looking at receiving free to air

diy satellite

Hi,
I live in Australia (sydney) and i wish to know more about installing a satellite dish. Is there anyone from OZ (should i limit myself to the southern hemisphere?) that has done their own installation. COuld someone please guide me?

I am mainly looking at receiving free to air from Italy, England and the US.

I doubt you'll be able to receive such channels from especially england.

The broadcast footprint of the Astra Satellites at 28.2 Deg East does not extened to the southern hemisphere (I think North Africa can get it with a larger dish). This satellite carries Sky as well as the normall terrestrial channels - although you need a Sky subscription to get anything other than BBC channels. (i.e. ITV CH4 & CH5 are not available to people outside UK - Including Ireland)
