| Sanyo DRW-1000 DVD swap My Sanyo DRW-1000 DVD-R/VCR combo failed a few months back. It was out of warranty so I cracked the covers to see if I could do anything to remedy my DVD issues. I noticed the DVD-RW drive appeared to be a standard IDE type. I slaved a new DVD+-RW unit in but no go. I'm thinking the only difference in the Sanyo unit and ANY DVD+-RW IDE unit is the firmware. Anybody ever swapped out the drive units of a combo DVD/VCR successfully? Just curious what program to use to copy the flash and reflash a different unit with. Thinking I could use this method to upgrade the present DVD-RW unit to a dual format dual layer 16X burner.  |
