| RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) For all expertise people New RH7500 DVDrecorder. I have a problem and I don't know if it's a firmware or hardware issue. Recordered DVD-RWs without surely copyright restriction (also without video input) connot be transfer in any PC (copy and paste). There is inhibition to transfer file on PC; I can use player software to watch DVD but not to transfer or to use programs like Shrink to edit (fail to recognize....) or cut.. Is it for all RH7x00 series or is only my problem?? Is a firmware issue (my firmware is 51017A). Can you help me? Thanks in advance |

| Re: RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) I have a RH 7500 and can transfer DVD to hard drive and back no problem. When I dub from the hard drive to disc, before I can use it on the computer the disc has to be finalised. I have no problem copying DVDs that way. Press set up and chose disc then finalise. Hope this helps. |

| Re: RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) The DVD-RWs are naturally finalized before to try the transfer to pc; infact I can watch the disc with a player software but I cannot edit with Shrink or simply to tranfer the folder VIDEO_TS on any PC. I'm talking about PC not harddrive of RH7500. Thanks in advance |

| Re: RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) In what way do you want to edit the file? I believe that the DVD is recorded as one long file. I am currently investigating what software will let me edit these files on the pc. I find it tedious to edit out adverts on the RH 7500 as it’s not that accurate and then when you dub to disc it will only let edited files to be recorded in real time, (no fast dub available). |

Once the DVD has been transfered on PC you can edit very simpy with programs like Shrink (free and many guides available on Internet) or others; you can simply cut adverts and other many things. But please tell me ( or try ) if with your RH7500, you can transfer by copy and paste the folder VIDEO_TS from DVD-RW recordered with LG to PC and if DVD-Shrink can read the files, so you can edit. Thanks in advance

| Re: RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) Recordings made in -VR mode on a DVD-RW disc are the least compatible type of recording. Rather than copy and paste the Video_TS folder to your PC HDD, try and rip the title using DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode. This should give you a disc image, which DVD Shrink will be able to open for the very basic editing available in that program.

It seems working (image iso with DVDdecrypter, in that way DVDShrink seems able to work). Okay But it remains an issue of my RH7500, beacuse it's strange that simply Shrink cannot read DVD-RW registered in Video Mode (not in VR mode, I'm sure; non copyright material); Is it my RH7500 that has trouble or all RH7X00 model have same behaviour??? If people that have an RH7.... model can try or answer me please. Previous model of LG worked always directly

| Re: RH 7500 problem (transfer DVD to PC) If the DVD Decrypter method I suggested (i.e. taking an ISO image) works with DVD Shrink, than the LG recorder is not likely to be making incompatible recordings. There are lots of errors that a simple Windows file copy can introduce, and you have found why it's not really recommended at all for getting content off a DVD and onto a hard disk. It may not be possible to determine why there is this incompatibility. As a practical solution, if you don't want to rip an ISO image, perhaps you could try making some recordings on a +RW disc, rather than a -RW, and see whether DVD Shrink will open this type of disc directly. What brand (and media code) of DVD-RW, and which version of DVD Shrink are you using?

I've just tried different disc and brand (+RW, -RW; Verbatim, Sony, TDK and other) with the same behaviour, DVD-Shrink (the last version available) can't open directly the disc registered on my LG. Only with the procedure you have suggested I can read my discs. Obviously the transfer by copy and paste was not the real method to transfer, but it needed to show that was independent from any program. It seems a restriction used during recording on RH7500. So I ask if someone can try a RH7x00 to understand if my RH7500 is not good (see warranty). Thanks again in advance
