Problems recording from DVR I have a DirecTV dvr and I recently bought a LG DR787T stand alone DVD recorder. I have had two other dvd recorders in the past, one Samsung and one Sony. With the Samsung it would record any program that I played through it from my DVR, unfortunately I began having problems and returned it. The Sony would not record the programs from the premium channels, and I received a message stating that it was copy protected and could not record. So needless to say I returned it pretty quick, and hoped for better luck with the LG. No such luck though. I have my DVR hooked to the recorder with a coaxle cable (recommended way to go from retailer) and then I am running composite to the TV. I have been searching the forums here and have read quite abit about macro protection and another protection that I forget the name of. I have searched the internet for information and not found anything very useful. What I have read states that this recorder is very sensitive to the copy protection signal, more so than some others. I have read about "signal boosters" and their reported ability to kill the flag in the signal, but have read mixed reviews about their effectiveness and about degraded signals. I have read about hacks to make them region free. So here is my question, does anyone know what dvd recorders are less prone to recognizing this copy right flag? I am tempted to return the LG and try my luck with another Samsung, as I had my best luck with them so far. I am thinking about switching again because I read that some companies tend to ignore setting the sensitivity low for this flag. Any guidance toward a different recorder or more information to dig through and try to figure something out would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problems recording from DVR Ok, Ok. I have spent more time reading threads in thr forum and figure my LG is just to sensitive at reading the copy protected flag. I like the LG as a player, but hate having something around and only using half of its capabilities. So my next question would be, can anyone recommend a stand alone recorder that may not be as sensitive? I know with all of the knowledge in this forum, there must be recommendations out there. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Re: Problems recording from DVR I have been using "Pioneer DVD RT-500" for almost 2 years now and have never had any copy protection problem with it while I am recording any Video directly from TV output or from cable going to the DVR. It is to say since this DVR is VHS/DVD Combo recorder I do have problem using dubbing to convert VHS to DVD if the VHS is copy protected, for that I have been using SIMA-100 for removal of copy protection.
