I have charter premium cable coming into my usb pinnacle pctv pro (birthday present- I wanted a PCI one but no luck) and want to get the best possible software to run with it.
From my experience, Pinnacle software sucks.

I was hoping to use intervideo Windvr, but it doesn't even support Pinnacle. Can I get around its support refusal? Or, is there any good software out there that does work with Pinnacle? I know it's a damn cheap tuner, but that's all they could afford. And I certainly can't afford a better one.

Okay, Win dvr seemed to be working just fine for a couple of seconds, but then began to do what pinnacle had previously begun to do: hung and died when I tried to do timeshifting.
I have more than the recommended ram- 1 gb. I have a 2.20 ghz processor. I have 90 gigs free hard drive space.
what the hell?
Win XP SP2, FULLY updated. No Viruses.

Now it will no longer record either; try to timeshift or record, either timed or live, and the bloody thing takes my whole computer down!
No BSOD no error messages, nothing!
Just BAM! and it's off.
That's it.
What's the best tv tuner under a hundred dollars?
