my Samsung DVD player won't play DVD anymore

I have the Samsung DVD vr-330 which is a dual VCR/CD recorder/player. Up until a few weeks ago i was able to play DVDs that I had burned. these DVDs had the usual Audio and Video TS files. When I tried to play them a month ago the DVD would "load" the DVD but I would get a message asking if I wanted to "initialize" the disk . I did and that erased all the info. Lesson learned. The weird thing is that the machine will not play the maxell DVD+r 4.7 gigs like it did before but will play Sony DVD+RW disk. I am not sure but this screw up seemed to have coincided with a power outage which screwed up the VCR as well not sure if they are related though. any help appreciated as Samsung support has still not responded. BTW all the disks are compatible with the machine

Have you tried to clean this player? Maybe its dirty? Using a good quality CD/DVD cleaner just might do the trick? Also is your Sammy still under warranty?

Re: my Samsung DVD player won't play DVD anymore

Had the same problem with the very same model (Samsung VCR/DVD REcorder). After recording a show from TV, the player wouldn't play or do anything else. Samsung recommended resetting & using a Disk cleaner. Neither worked. Samsung replaced the unit with a refurbished one. Does it work now? Don't know; haven't tried it. It worked before the fiasco, though. Took almost 2 months to get a replacement as well. Will check and get back to forum on it. Darlinka
