| My Minidisc is 'corrupted' can anyone help, please? I used a full minidisc DVD-RW on holiday and when I returned home I was unable to transfer it onto a DVD, I rang Hitachi who told me that the disc must be faulty, I took it to a computer shop who confirmed that the disc would run for a few minutes then crash-they said it is corrupted and there is nothing they can do. Its a shame to lose all of my holidays in this way, can anyone suggest anything to help, please? Regards Colmil |

| Re: My Minidisc is 'corrupted' can anyone help, please? I think that mediatype is called "Mini DVD-RW", has nothing to do with MiniDisk or MD. Try tools like isopuzzle, isobuster.

| Re: My Minidisc is 'corrupted' can anyone help, please? The first thing I would recommend is try the disc in as many DVD drives as you can get hold of. From my experience, quite often a poor quality disc that will not read in one drive will be fully readable in another. For example, my PC's Lite-On (model SOHW-1693S) has already fully read a few bad discs that other PCs have either had trouble reading or could not read at all. If you still cannot get the full disc read, first load the disc in the PC that was able to read or play the most and run the tool titled Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier (freeware). This claims to rebuild the files leaving out just the pieces that cannot be physically read, which means that you should be able to play all but the badly damaged section. When playing back the recovered content, you may need to fast forward the damaged areas as some players will either get stuck or crash out when they encounter a bad spot. Some others will display a corrupt image (like a weak satellite or DVB-T signal) during the damaged area. If the recovered video does have issues or out of sync with the audio after the damaged area, the tool PVAStrumento may be able to remove the damaged bits. One possibility for this disc damage is if the camcorder had any sudden movement, shock, etc. during the recording, as it is physically recording to the disc, this result would potentially be worse than a CD player losing sync from shock or movement where it simply seeks back to the original spot and continues reading. |
