Digital Video Recorder & Home Entertainment Discuss, Looking for new DVD player at International Chat: Hardware related forum; After reading quite a few complaints aboutthe Philips DVP 642 failing after about 6 months, I am looking for a potential new choice for a new player. I would like to have.. PAL/NTSC conversion. Plays CDR/CDRW Plays DVD-R(W)/DVD+R(W). Plays MP3s. Progressive scan. Dolby

Looking for new DVD player

After reading quite a few complaints aboutthe Philips DVP 642 failing after about 6 months, I am looking for a potential new choice for a new player.

I would like to have..

PAL/NTSC conversion.
Plays CDR/CDRW
Plays DVD-R(W)/DVD+R(W).
Plays MP3s.
Progressive scan.
Dolby Digital and DTS capable.
More than 8x FF and RW.

Philips is having problems lately with their products. I have experinced it myself. The net is full of Philips "issues". So, I would choose a reliable brand, like Pioneer.

I am in Brooklyn, NY.. not the UK. I am unable to find this listed in any US stores.
