DL playback problem on JVC player

Got my first successful DL burn on Verbatim media. Burn quality seems just fine, you can see it HERE
The problem is that I have trouble in my JVC, it seems to be hanging at the layer break. At least I assume so cause it's in the middle of the movie.

It plays fine on all my DVD drives. I suspect the JVC is just unable to focus on the second layer, but is there some other possible cause for a hang at the break?

Edit, for got to mention I burned this from a straight file rip from DVDDecryptor, burned in Nero.

Re: DL playback problem on JVC player

Update: There's a chapter stop at this same point, and I can skip past the freeze, but it skips that chapter. So I can chapter skip forward and backward through the layer break, but I cannot play that one chapter that starts at the break. I burned a second copy at 2.4x and it's the same.

So it seems the JVC is able to read both layers just fine, just the break that's the problem. Any thoughs would be much appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my Pioneer DV-655A with Verbatim DL media, burned with Sony DRU-700a drive and firmware VY06. The player can see both layers, but at the layer change, there is a problem. My player doesn't hang, it skips 1 to 2 minutes of the movie !!!

This basically makes DL media useless for movies for me. I don't know if there is other media that's better, or if the player just can't deal with DL media at all. It comforts me that I'm not the only one with the problem, though. If it is widespread enough, it should get attention, and perhaps this is something that can be fixed with better media and/or drive firmware.

If I burn with anything other than Nero, there's no such problems. It's not media or drive related.

Re: DL playback problem on JVC player

I burnt 3 DL discs with different software under different operating systems (only 1 disc was burned with Nero uon Windows), and all of the discs showed this problem in my player. The problem does not appear to be related to the burning software, from this end.
