Converting an NTSC TV from Canada to PAL in Australia - Club CDFreaks

We really hope you can help us! We have a Sony Wega 60" TV, model KDF60WF655- North American version. We have just moved to Oz and since they use PAL here and our TV is NTSC we can't seem to get it to work. How do I convert it? We purchased a DVD recorder here to use as a converter but can't seem to work that either. We've spoken to Sony reps here and back in Canada but they all seem useless and keep sending us back to each other.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lost Canadian:
I just joined the forum with a similar problem. I am originally from the US and all our camcorders have been NTSC, including my latest digital (Panasonic). We live in PAL country and have just bought a DVD Recorder that displays NTSC tapes as B&W with a herringbone pattern.
The best solution I have seen so far is to purchase one of the digital PAL/NTSC converters that are sold from $250-400 at places like www.world-import.com/samar.htm. There are simpler converters made for playstations, but they would have to be modified to allow the input to the TV from the cable box or the DVD recorder to become the output and the input sent to the TV.
I am definitely not a technical person, so I really can't give you "how to do it" info.
