cdrom digital 2pin digital out to receiver

I want to hook up my cdrom to my receiver.
I can build the right cables to go from the 2pin S/PDIF to the RCA male that my receiver wants but I read a warning about TTL S/PDIF that is 5V and maybe my receiver expects .5V.

Does anyone know if ALL receivers expect 5V?

I'm sure this has been done but I can't find anything for sale.
They a few references to DIY but no concrete instructions.
