| Burned DVDs play only half way thru Just got an NEC nd-3500a and have burned a couple movies using Memorex 8X DVD+R, DVD Decrypter and Nero, booktype DVD ROM (flashed with Herrie's 2.17). Burns seemed to be fine. Burnt discs tested fine with no errors using Nero and DVDInfoPro. Here's the problem. I tried both in my JVC XV-S502 DVD player (only 1 year old) and they play great at first, then about exactly half way thru, I get heavy grainy pixelation, stuttering, stopping, and jumping forward. If I shut off the unit and then restart and it, then jump to the chapter I was at, it plays the same scenes I had problems with earlier fine for about 10 minutes then the same problems reoccur. The fact that the DVDs play OK over the earlier problem spots would indicates they're OK and the DVD player is at fault, but I've never heard of a disc player going so far into a movie and then having problems. The funny thing here is that my cheapo Coby DVD player I got a month ago for $40 plays both discs all the way thru without a problem. Any ideas? |

| Re: Burned DVDs play only half way thru I have the exact same problem and I have no idea what is causing it. I have a PRISM TV dvd player which is just a re-badged LG system and I have tried burning using both my LITE-ON 418s and my new LG Dual Layer burners. I am burning at 4x using DVD-R 4x media (have the same problem on RITEK, BULKPAQ and Infiniti media). I get about an hour into a film and then all I get is stuttering and jumping until it jumps so bad the player cannot display a picture on the TV anymore. If I take the disk out and play out on either of my PC dvd burners then all is fine. I burned the disks using images I had stored on a USB 2.0 external hard disk (a clone external casing with a maxtor ATA 13360 GB drive in it) but I don't think that would have made a difference as the disks play fine in my pc dvd drives. The really annoying thing is that I always test all my disks I burn in my PRISM dvd player after I burn them to make sure they work by skipping through each chapter from start to finish of the disk. The only other thing I do is put PRESSIT printable labels on the discs using the PRESSIT applicator but this is done straight after burning so if this was the problem causing an inbalance on the disk or something then surely it would show up as a problem when skipping through the disk after burning. Aaaaaaggggggggghhhhhh , it's doing my head in, can anybody help???? |

| Re: Burned DVDs play only half way thru OK, I have run some cd speed test diagnostics using the nero tool so here are the results. Using LG Dual Layer Burner NERO Settings Disk Quality Test (had to use my lite-on burner as the test would not start using my dual layer LG) as far as I can tell these tests show no faults with the disks at all. Please somebody help me out before my hardware gets thrown out of the window! |

My expensive DVD player, which is around 3 years old, having problems playing the movies I burned on my computer. Same effects as you describes. Plays fine at first, then gets stuck somewhere in a middle. And of course, my old, bulky, 7 year old DVD player plays movies just fine. I read somewhere that Movie and Music industries are doing their best to do unethical things to stop piracy. Such as they mostly damage the DVD Movie disk and Music disk that you buy so only their players can play them. I guess, when those players try to play a good disk that you made with a computer, they become.. "confused".. or trying not to play pirated disk?!Who knows.. ![]() | |
