Basic setup help for Go Video R6640 (DVD Recorder), please

Help, please! Just pretend I am from another planet, ok? I just tried to hook up my very first DVD player. I have a DVD on my computer and have had many VCR's but I guess I am way behind in the times.

I got a Go Video Video Recorder - R6640 - as a gift. I had a hell of a time trying to hook it up a couple months ago when I first got it because it just wouldn't work, or so I thought, with the VCR on there as well.

My VCR broke so I disconnected that and followed the instructions in the manual for DVD to basic cable setup. In other words, I don't have a cable box so per the instructions, I connected a cable from the DVD to the cable hook-up in the wall.

I know I did it right and I have never had any problems before with any kind of set-up's of any kind but this is a nightmare.

From the remote, I pressed "Setup" but nothing shows up on my TV screen. My TV is a Toshiba that is a few years old but I have never had any problems with it before and none with hooking VCR's up to it.

Now I know I am going to sound real stupid here but, do I have to have the TV on a certain channel? I have the hookup to VIDEO 1 on the back of my TV as the DVD instruction manual indicates. When I turn the TV on and off when the DVD player is on, I noticed it automatically goes to channel 4 on the TV.

Are DVD players THAT different from VCR's and I am just stupid or is there something else I am missing here? I have done a google search and have been looking through pages of sites for hours and most reviews for this product were bad. But no where could I find any info on my problem. It is not in the manual, nor on GoVideo.com web site.

Calling customer service in the past was a joke. The phone connection was always bad (had to be on their end) - whether I used my cell or my regular phones - cordless and corded. I was told a few times they couldn't understand me and to call back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I am SO sorry.
Please ignore this post. I found out the problem and wanted to
delete this post but I see no "edit" option.
Again, I am sorry.
