Digital Video Recorder & Home Entertainment Discuss, Apex 5131 won't play any dvds at International Chat: Hardware related forum; I realize this is an older player and I've mostly used it for VCD/SVCD playback, but I have tried to play a burnt DVD on it with no success. So far I have tried DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, and even tried a borrwed DVD. All discs

Apex 5131 won't play any dvds

I realize this is an older player and I've mostly used it for VCD/SVCD playback, but I have tried to play a burnt DVD on it with no success.

So far I have tried DVD+RW, DVD+R, DVD-R, and even tried a borrwed DVD. All discs tried have stalled in the player and eventually gave a NO DISC error.

VCD/SVCD playback on CDR/CDRW media however is still working intermittently and it's taking longer to recognize the disc.

Is the player reaching the end of its days?
