Why they may not have updated yet...

Did it ever occur to any of you that perhaps Slysoft developers want to enjoy this holiday weekend (or week if they take vacation time/etc) and don't have the ability/want to work on a new update at this time? Not that the title of the movie should matter, but like most of you have already stated, this movie (Blades of Glory) is garbage anyway....most Will Farrell movies are!

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

There was a delay in the mailing of their disc this has been stated on their forum over this too. So this is why the delay plus they are working on some new features too from what I read.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

...Plus maybe they also want to enjoy the holiday weekend! It's quite rare that Slysoft doesn't have an update within a day or so of a DVD being released....so I doubt that's the only reason...

Also, being that they haven't even released betas yet....makes me think this way too. They release betas quite a bit, new "final version" or not...

Can't release a beta till they have the original DVD too. Can't work on what you don't have to work with.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

DVD neXt Copy still doesn't burn that movie properly anyway. It has the same problems that AnyDVD had with it. Comp doesn't recognize disc, and dvd player takes 2-5 mins just to read the disc. So there's no safe bet right now. I never have that problem with Anydvd/ CloneDVD2 or Anydvd/DVD Shrink EVER.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

One should realize that "Labor Day" is primarily an American holiday. The world does not revolve around American work schedules.

Very true bilbo65 and believe me when I tell you that the holiday has nothing to do with the release of a new version of AnyDVD, I am just speculating but I think they want to release a version with some new things in it, ( this is just my assumption) and want to release it all at once. I can't understand why people can't watch the copy the bought of this horrid movie until the release is finished. I personally would not waste a disc on it myself.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

All valid points! Tis true that Slysoft is not based in the US, therefore they wouldn't necessary follow our "holiday dates" or even have labor day as we do for that matter.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

It is out of character though. They usually are the very first with a fix, now several others and the old ripit4me have cracked the problem but not Slysoft. The Slysoft forum has effectively squashed all discussion of the subject for various reasons, some legit, others seem a little heavy handed. After all, it is now almost a week and people have a right to ask and paying customers have a right to gripe a little. Don't get me wrong, I am a big supporter of AnyDVD and CloneDVD. I have dozens of posts here and on Videohelp and Doom9 expounding their virtues and recommending them as the best. But what is right is right, if you accept the accolades you should listen to the criticism when it is merited. By the way, I doubt that Antiqua celebrates American Labor Day. I think most of us would appreciate, at least, an official explanation of the holdup.

Quite simply, if you been following the disscussions on this site, Slysoft has stated that they are waiting for the disc in question to arrive on the island of Antiguia...

That was 4 or 5 days ago, I'm pretty sure they must have for a few days now.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

Many people had their opportunity to vent about the update not taking place yet. Many people repeated themselves... well... repeatedly. Many people were too lazy to read. They didn't need to read 50+ pages. Reading one stickied posting would have been more than enough. Many people are too impatient. Many people did find ways to make a backup.

What was the point of letting the thread continue in the Slysoft forums? It was utterly pointless and doing nothing but going in circles. It's still there for people to read. The sticky is right there for people to read. Everyone already knows what they need to know. Were the moderators heavy-handed? IMHO, no. Far from it. They let the discussion continue for days.

An update will be released when Slysoft is happy with the results. I'd rather wait and get a release that works fully than be in the boat of other products that needed to release several updates before problems were resolved.

I own the DVD so I'm really not in a rush since I have no date by which I have to return my disc but there are plenty of ways to back up the movie in the meantime including using Slysoft programs if you know how to do it.

Anyway, Slysoft will release an update when it's released. People venting, badgering, insulting, kicking and screaming isn't going to make things happen any faster. It's been noted in different places that Slysoft users are a bit spoiled. Yes, they [including myself] are. There is an expectation that the software will always just work and updates will always be released in nanoseconds. It's time to be realistic. It's also only been 5 days since the release. The world isn't going to end.

Here is an example of when they were not able to release an update as quickly as people would like and some people are insanely angry. Is this really something people can be mad at Slysoft about? Sorry but I don't think so.

I would, this is their business. They could have had an associate fly it in from Miami for $200. Even snail mail would have only take 3-4 days never mind Fedex. If you had a business and a great reputation like they do, are you going to wait a week for a dvd, or make new arrangements if your first was held up? It must be more than a late shipment. I know we'll get it soon, I guess I'm just shocked...and spoiled.

Re: Why they may not have updated yet...

I have been a user and supporter of AnyDVD every since it was released. Yes we users have been spoiled by Slysofts johnny on the spot updates to solve issues. I am in no hurry to back up blades of glory, I purchased the DVD for the kids. I don't even like Will Farrell movies. BUT....I think slysoft has given itself a blackeye with this title. Their own forums reflect they have been aware of the problem Since August 24, and have had the IFO files from the region 1 affected disk for almost as long. So they don't have an actual disks yet. it's in the mail, (and Slysoft will still respect us i the morning....LOL ) why the dead silence from Slysoft? previously when there was a problem and they had IFO files they at least released information about what they thought the issue was and what they were doing, their only announcements so far, some NINE DAYS after becoming aware of the problem, has been a terse, "we know AnyDVD does not work with Blades of Glory", and "we are having trouble getting the disc. (Apparently a freedom fighter has to swim from miami to antigua with it.)

Slysoft wants to be the industry leading software in this area, and so far in my opinion they have been. but it certainly is a sad day when virtually every other software out there has been updated to deal with this problem and all we are getting from Slysoft is mute silence.
