What does AnyDVD do? - Club CDFreaks

I thought that the claim to fame of Any DVD was that it would allow you to copy DVD movies "on the fly." Why would you want to disable it to burn a DVD directly from an original movie DVD?

Maybe, I am misunderstanding it's use. Please explain what it is really supposed to do. Thank you for your help.
