Due to the demise of ripit4me, menu shrink and fixvts ect.... this is why. There is a couple of tricks to use it with anydvd.

Re: Vobblanker affected?

There's nothing to elaborate on this. jsoto does *NOT* want VobBlanker to be associated with ripping in ANY WAY. When this was allowed during the betas, using VobBlanker with AnyDVD allowed people to copy the DVD to the hard drive in such a way that DVD Shrink users would be able to open it...this included the latest Sony ARccOS garbage. Fortunately the AnyDVD Ripper has been updated so Shrink users don't need this functionality with VobBlanker, but, jsoto is smart to eliminate it. He just doesn't want to take any chances. If FixVTS, something that doesn't remove copy protection, can be targeted, well, why take a risk...

P.S. If you want him to elaborate on how to get around the check, ummmmm, yeaaaa. No.

Re: Vobblanker affected?

Sorry but due to the respect I have for this being done to not be used I won't, plus I hate to have the RIAA/MPAA on me for sharing such knowledge.

Re: Vobblanker affected?

Dr. Who is right not to post anything that would allow VobBlanker to be used against jsoto's wishes, but, if you look at jsoto's website you can kind of get a clue as to what you can do...

Quote:
- VobBlanker is strictly an editing tool, designed to be applied in unprotected and no-copyrighted sources. It has nothing to do with ripping or protection removing practices.

How VobBlanker works
- VobBlanker needs a FILE mode, unencrypted and unprotected backup of the DVD to be processed. This backup can be done using a ripper in FILE mode or mounting in a virtual drive an unencrypted DVD image.

Yes and to add to this Please don't ask, I found a way but wish not to disclose as I don't want any heat over this either. I stated there is a way and it is up to you the freeware user to figure it out. I hope you all see this as I do and not trying to be rude to anyone here on cdfreaks forum.

Thank-You for understanding

VOBBlanker

So - the moral of this story is:
Start with the files you want to process sitting on your hard disc. How you get them there is your business.
Then process them with VOBBlanker if there is garbage you want to delete before using the files for whatever purposes you had in mind originally.
Which means you haven't really lost any capabilities of VOBBlanker - since it never was a ripping program or capable of breaking css encryption anyway.
Of course the same can be said about FixVTS - which also was never a ripping program nor capable of breaking digital copy protection. It simply cleans up and takes out the trash . . but apparently some people think intentional flaws and defects in commercially made dvd's counts as digital copy protection somehow.
Bizarre . . . .

Re: Vobblanker affected?

Yup, I agree, as well Rich86...We haven't lost anything with VobBlanker except possibly a little time(assuming you were using it with AnyDVD before and not ripping it to the hard drive first). Big deal. It will still do what you want once you rip it. But the fact that FixVTS didn't do any ripping or breaking of copy protection and was still removed from existence is troubling. It's probably due to it being included in the R4M which VobBlanker doesn't have to worry about. Nonetheless, I hope they leave VobBlanker alone...it's such a GREAT util!!
