| Ver. 5.4.4.1 Crash, Robots , The longest Yard have given me trouble since I went to this version from the previous. They are region 1 and I use Maxell - R to backup with the up to date ver of Clone DVD2. Seems that my LG spits out the media saying its bad just after 1%. It happens a few times and then the 3rd or 4th works fine. Also noticed that these same ones have a playing "glitch" in them. What happens is ..... the movies freezes and plays certain frames, like stills and the player refuses to continue. I have never had this before with the previous ver and I am paid up on both softwares. After rebooting the computer, the drive burns without problems ![]() |

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 @ imTrojan, Could you clarify exactly which DVDs have this “playing glitch”? Is it the original commercial manufactured DVDs or the copied DVDs that exhibit this “playing glitch”? Perchance using a software utility program similar to DVDInfo Pro (http://www.dvdinfopro.com) could you provide the Manufacture ID and Media Code (Example: RitekGO5) for the blank DVD media that you are using. Best Regards, bjkg |

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 The backed up maxell -r disc have this glitch. But not on every copy of the same movie. other times it just stops at 1% burn. Thanks for the site, but the software doesn't work due to expiry date and i cant find serial #. That software crashes on my laptop AND desktop ![]() |

Here's the link: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ Click on the "disc info" tab with the either a new or burned DVD inserted. You can also click on the "scan disc" tab with the burned dvd inserted to check for errors.

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 @ imTrojan, Ritek GO5 is decent DVD media and should not be causing your “playing glitches” problems. It is possible that your “playing glitches” problem is caused by DVD Burner / DVD media incompatibility. This incompatibility problem could be caused by out of date DVD Burner firmware. Have your checked to ensure that your LG DVD burner has the latest up to date firmware installed? DVD Burner firmware is one of the factors that controls the burn quality of DVD media. If your DVD Burner does not have the latest up to date firmware installed can cause poor quality burns that exhibit “playing glitches” similar to what you are describing in your initial posting in this thread. If you are unfamiliar with updating your LG DVD Burner firmware suggest visiting the CD Freaks LG DVD Burner Forum (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=91). The “Read First” postings in the being of the Forum provide information on upgrading LG DVD Burner firmware. Best Regards, bjkg |

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 imTrojan: Sounds like a disc quality/burner problem. Since you've got CD-DVD Speed do a "Disc Quality" scan on a fully burnt disc and either post the graph or report the Quality Score. What speed are you burning at? The RitekG05 have a very spotty quality record. |

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 My firmware is up to date. After some research, I found that the Maxells manufactured in Taiwan are garbage and have a higher failure than the ones produced in Japan. Seems that the batch I am using keeps coming up as dirty media. So now the question in this thread is; What media is best for the LG? |

I think the best source for answering your question is the LG burner forum. You can read some of the posts there, do a search, if that yields nothing then post a thread. Be sure to include your model # in the subject of the thread. Here's the link: http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=91

| Re: Ver. 5.4.4.1 @ imTrojan, I am unaware of what the ideal blank DVD media is for your LG DVD Burner but in addition to the LG Forum as suggested by Forum Member itzbinnice CD Freaks also has a Blank Media Forum (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33) which might be able to provide you with useful information concerning blank DVD media. In general Taiyo Yuden DVD Media is considered excellent DVD Media and Rima.Com (http://www.rima.com/) is considered a reliable source for Taiyo Yuden DVD Media. Best Regards, bjkg |

The "Made in Japan" thing is because TDK, Fujifilm and Sony (Sony +R) are all made by Taiyo Yuden if it states "Made in Japan" on the package (usually near the barcode). TY's production of 16x -R is in full swing so the price of the TY 8x -R from places like Rima is coming down nicely. The only downside to ordering online (from Rima etc.) is the discs refered to as "shiny lacquer" are REALLY shinny and smooth - this may take some getting use to.
