Re: Valiant

What software did you use to originally backup Valiant?

@ dmp31,

First question is if you are attempting to make a copy of a backup copy, which I believe your original posting states, why are you using the AnyDVD software program? There is no reason to use the AnyDVD software program when making a copy of a backup copy because all copy protection schemes should have been removed from you backup copy.

Second question have you checked in the AnyDVD program on the CSS Keys tab that you have the ‘Use CSS Key Archive’ box unchecked? When using AnyDVD there isn’t any ‘real’ advantage to use the CSS Key Archive.

Best Regards,
bjkg

There is no reason to use the AnyDVD program, but there is no reason not to use it either. AnyDVD is an essential tool fixing many bugs in the Windows Operating system, it should be kept enabled all the time.
The CSS archive has nothing to do with this problem (is there a problem? I assume the DVD will play just fine?), as AnyDVD clearly says the DVD is not CSS protected.
Question remains: How was this copy created? It is possible to copy Arccos or Ripguard to a writeable media with "brute force" copy tools like Alcohol.

Re: Valiant

If I can remember correctly, I used DVDFab Decrypter/ DVDShrink, bjkg..I wasn't actually trying to make a copy of a copy, I apologize for the confusion if there was any, I just always leave AnyDVD running, I've never enabled the CSS archive since I've used AnyDVD. The copy plays flawlessly on both my PC and my home DVD player. As far as Alcohol is concerned, I've never had it installed, as I'm completely unfamiliar with it. It's just puzzling to me that a copy can be protected, this is the first time I've came across something like this.

Re: Valiant

@ Tru,

The reason I made reference to AnyDVD ‘Use CSS Key Archive’ in my response to Forum Member dmp31 is because in some past Forum postings individuals had problems. When they had AnyDVD activated and were attempting to make a copy of a backup copy, AnyDVD had problems using the previous CSS Key Archive from when the backup copy was originally made. This caused some individuals to believe that there back up copy still contained copy protection.

Best Regards,
bjkg
