AnyDVD Discuss, "Unable To locate Layer Break" at Copy Movie forum; Anyone have a solution to get around that? I'm using CloneDVD / AnyDVD 3.9.2.1. I'm trying to copy a concert DVD and keeping getting this in the log. Needless to say the finished result will not play. Thanks!!

Re: "Unable To locate Layer Break"

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Normally you get that message in two occurrences:

1) the source DVD is a single layer DVD (aka DVD-5) and therefore the layer break does not exists.
2) the source DVD is a dual layer DVD (aka DVD-9), but the data is arranged in the DVD so that a layer break is not necessary.

In both cases the message is absolutely NOT a problem, and the burned DVD should work fine...

I think that if the resulting burned DVD does not play, you have to look at other causes...

Please provide more informations: what brand of DVD-R media and burner are you using? What standalone player are you using?

Regards,

ET

The reason to this is somewhat different, not inability "to locate Layer Break".

Re: "Unable To locate Layer Break"

Thanks for the quick replies!!! I've burned numerous DVD's without any problems on this unit. This has only happened twice in the 6 months since I've had this burner. I'm trying to figure why this is happening because I really want a copy of the concert that I'm trying to copy. It's an internal TDK model 840G. I also happen to be using TDK DVD media that I got on sale at Comp USA.

Thanks!

Re: "Unable To locate Layer Break"

It if is 4.3Gb than there is no layer break, you don't need transcoding and can make a 1:1 copy... Of course you can still use AnyDVD/ CloneDVD2 for it, but did you try using DVD Decrypter in ISO mode?

BTW, CloneDVD has reached version 2.4.3.1 through a major update...
