Success with RW, Not with DVD+R - Club CDFreaks

I've attempted to make a backup copy of Memoirs of a Geisha with AnyDVD 5.9.5.3 and CloneDVD 2.8.9.2 with success only using Fujifilm DVD +RW media when using Memorex DVD+R media fails. I've attempted to copy to the hard drive with AnyDVD and recode to a DVD-5 with either (1) CloneDVD selecting only the main movie, or (2) Nero Recode. Either case the movie freezes on the Memorex media but works (doesn't freeze on the Fujifilm media).

I'm beginning to the think its the media. I've alternated using two different burners (one a Sony dual layer burner) and the other (LiteOn burner).

Any ideas or similar experience?

Im assuming you mean fails by not being playable in your standalone player? - if so, then yeah sure sounds like a media issue to me.

Memorex certainly is not a recommended media. The quality of these is highly variable.

Best to try some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden branded media.
