| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 @ Lin731, Below is a download link for the latest version of Nero CD-DVD Speed. http://www.cdspeed2000.com/files/NeroCDSpeed_4511.zip Open Nero CD-DVD Speed. On the opening page you will see a Menu Tab with “Benchmark”, “DiscInfo”, DiscQuality, and “ScanDisc”. Insert your suspected problematic Burned DVD in your computer DVD device. On the ScanDisc page check “Read Test” and select 4X speed and then click on “Start”. The Nero CD-DVD Speed ScanDisc surface scan will begin. As stated before a quality properly burned DVD should not have any Bad (Red Sectors) Sector errors. Best Regards, bjkg |

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 Update...I found and ran the surface scan...ALL green, no red/bad sectors. Disc Quality test came back with a 98 score as well. Oh and the Sony according to the nero tool (for the person that asked) is a DVD RW DRU-810A but according to my Sony manual I have the DRX-810UL Last edited by Lin731; 09-06-2006 at 02:28. |

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 The DRU-810A is basically a BenQ DW1640 (internal), which is a very good drive. You mentioned you were using an external drive, so chances are you have DRX-810UL, and it's probably still a Benq, basically. Many people flash these to Benq drives, I think, but I'm going to probably suggest you not do that. Anyway, there's a number of other questions you haven't answered yet. I suspect the problem lies with the amount of memory you have available and possibly, not updating to the latest version of Nero Recode. You only stated that the skipping occurs on your computer. Does the backup pause during playback on a standalone dvd player? If not, your computer is the issue (possibly a video card driver update may help--in addition to buying more memory). I suggest you take a long hard look at this post again: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...2&postcount=13 |

Do other movie rips also pause/skip when you watch them on your computer? If not, then this is an issue with your original disc. It's either bad (in which case, clean it or take it back and get a new working copy)--or you're in dire need of sending the ifos to Slysoft. James is one of the developers of Anydvd; you should really do what he says.

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 Hmmmm....let me put it this way, I can copy 2 or 3 discs, no problems with them in standalone players. Then I can copy a couple more and they freeze up occassionally in the standalone DVD player, then the next burned one will play fine. Same discs, same burner, same standalone...yet some play fine and some don't (freeze for a second, get that color bar at the bottom for a second) some only do it in a couple spots, some do it in 6 or 7. As I said, I was having the same intermittant problem cropping up in the couple months before I replaced the Pioneer and I WASN'T using recode to burn them, I was using DVD Cloner...Same discs, same burner (the pioneer then), same burner program that I'd been using for a year (DVD CLoner), same DVD player and same result, some worked just fine, some not. As you can see, I've been weeding through this issue for months now. |

After you burn a couple of discs, reboot. If your problem goes away, it's a memory issue. You need to be testing ripped movies (playing them back) from the video_ts folder on your harddrive before burning. If they skip during playback, don't burn. Anyway, I don't have time to troubleshoot this issue further. Perhaps others will. It seems to me you should be doing what others, including myself, have suggested in this thread.

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 @ Lin731, Quite frankly I believe you in fact have not CLOSELY looked at my posting concerning MSCONFIG. If you notice in the referenced posting link (http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig) approximately half way down the Web Page there is another Web Page (http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php) listed for Mr. Paul “PacMan” hug Startup Application listing that lists 12282 Startup Applications. I find it very hard to believe that after reviewing the 12282 Startup Application lists that you could only find 4 applications out of your 42 that you could delete. As an example on my 4 computers I have an average of only 22 processes running. With 42 processes running you have a lot of unnecessary Memory and Resource wasting items running. Concerning Hard Drive Defragmenter as suggested by Forum Member Webslinger -> Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter. Your Dell Dimension 2400 supports up to 1GB of RAM Memory. I would suggest purchasing at least one 512MB memory stick and upgrading your memory. Below is spec sheet for your Dell Dimension 2400. http://support.dell.com/support/edoc...m_en/specs.htm Best Regards, bjkg |

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 I have been trying to back-up my copy of Underworld Evolution with no success (most recent AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.) I began reading this post and doing some thread searches, but, I still wasn't having any luck. I have been using these 2 programs for a little over a year. I have never had this type of problem that was so hard to overcome. The first try was normal AnyDVD and normal CloneDVD2 copying (Jump to title menu and only the movie selected, no extras) with my Sony DVD+-RW DW-D56A PDS7 to a Verbatim DVD+R 16x on Windows XP Pro with 1gig of memory. Even though this is the exact same way I have done all of my previous back-ups, this one wouldn't play in my home DVD Player or on my PC without locking up and full of glitches. I went back and unselected the "Jump to Title Menu" box, left all the scenes and extras selected and burned it again. Same thing, it was no different. I then tried shutting down everthing running in the background and a few other ideas, but the same results were found and 4 more DVD's wasted. I then went and bought a small pack of Memorex and Imation DVD+R 16x and tried it again, still no luck. Actually, on a couple of them, they weren't even recognized by any of my DVD players, nor on my PC. After reading this article and seeing people use the AnyDVD Ripper, I tried that way thinking for sure I would beat it, but again, failure. This was with a Memorex DVD+R 16x. AnyDVD even failed to recognize it (Error screen popped up saying bad or damaged media or RPC2 settings were not set correctly) and Windows Media Player locked up with it, after I copied them. Now, with CloneDVD2 still open and absolutely no changes made, I placed a Memorex DVD-R 16x in the burner and let Clone write to it, and when it was done, I opened the tray and re-closed it. A couple of seconds later, the "Information" box for AnyDVD popped up and that was not occuring on the previous +R disc. I then opened Windows Media Player and it played perfectly. So here came the big test; I went to my home DVD player and stuck it in and Voila', it played skip and glitch free! I felt so relieved as I have a trash can full of +R DVD's and numerous hours trying to make this work. So, I have nothing to attribute this to other then the change from +R to -R, as I changed nothing else and kept the current CloneDVD in operation with the same files and format. I hope this may benefit someone, as for me, it is just a great relief! P.S. Since I am no expert whatsoever in this field; if anyone knows why this worked out as it did, I would greatly enjoy the learning experience between +R and -R to better understand it. |

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 I am no expert, but I believe it is your PLAYER that decides what is supported better. I once had a older Sony player that would play -R fine, but +R would error out...I paid $250 for that first player. I bought a new Sony player @ walmart for $70 and it plays everything fine. |

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 I have done this region 1 with no issues of burning or playback. I would have to lean towards slinger007's last post is probably the issue. Some people think oh it's the most expensive so it has to be the best and guess what it usually isn't I have a JVC model???? and it is about 2 or 3 years old and I paid well under 100.00 USD for it. Sorry on this comment ......... Sony Sucks that's my opinion!

| Re: Still Can't Burn Underworld Evolutions with Updated Version 5.9.6.3 lol @ Dr.Who's Comment. I agree that Sony's Protection Techniques do Suck, but their Digital Equipment seems to be superior to many. I just wish Sony would stop wasting $ trying to make a ArCCos that works or BluRay for HD DVD's and put more money into designing new products or enhancing their current line. |
