@SlySoft, Windows Vista Beta 2 & AnyDVD 6.0.1.1

I thought i would let you know that i think i have found a problem with AnyDVD 6.0.1.1 when using it with Windows Vista Beta 2 Build 5384.4, i'm not sure if this issue accurs with older builds of AnyDVD or older builds of Windows Vista.
The problem is AnyDVD doesn't start automatically when Windows Vista starts unless the "UAC" (User Account Control) is disabled in Windows Vista, when the "UAC" is enabled AnyDVD fails to start automatically but as soon as "UAC" is disabled then AnyDVD's autostart feature works as normal.

Hope this can be fixed as i love AnyDVD and i don't think i could live without it.

Thanks!

This is a known problem ( CloneDVD, Virtual CloneDrive and CloneDVD mobile also have some minor problems) and it will be fixed during this year.

Are you using the new beta 2 build 5384.4?

Also have you got UAC enabled or disabled?

Thanks!

No need to discuss this any further. *A lot* of applications need to be updated to work correctly with UAC because of the way UAC is designed. I am not sure if Microsoft made a clever move with their implementation, because UAC unaware apps can accidently create multiple files and registry entries without even knowing.
For example installer and registration tools for AnyDVD & Co. save the same registration key in different registry locations without knowing.

As I said, trust me, it *is* not working correctly. But it will be fixed before Vista hits the shelves. Probably sooner.

I know it doesn't work correctly, LOL , i have tested it on Vista and that was the point of my bug report, LOL

It's still nice to know it will be fixed sometime this year, and thanks for the clarification

Re: @SlySoft, Windows Vista Beta 2 & AnyDVD 6.0.1.1

To make it short, with a clean install I am able to use the Plextor PX-760. However, as soon as I install AnyDvd, the CD/DVD fails to appear in the system Devices.

As a Micorsoft Beta Tester, there are known issues with Vista having problems with CD/DVD Rom devices. There suggestion is to remove the registry entry by:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
4. On the File menu, click Export.
5. In the File name box, type savedkey, and then click Save.
6. Click the REG_MULTI_SZ data type UpperFilters, and then click Delete on the Edit menu. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion

If you go into Registry, HKEY_LOCALMACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/{4d36e965-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318 and remove the Lower Filters - Reg_Multi-SZ - AnyDVD, the CD/DVD Rom will work.

This is where the problem exists. Is there a way to modify this file so that Vista will allow the CD/DVD drive to work, and have AnyDVD working?

I even turned off Use User Account Control (UAC), and still cannot get AnyDvd to start.

As a registered user, could you PLEASE offer me some ideas?

I fully understand that this Vista is a Beta product and not supported by Slysoft, but any work arounds or solutions would be great.

Thanks for the extra assistace.

Vista 64 Bit, Beta 2 Build 5384.4

Thanks for trying to help. However, it seem to work on your 32 Bit application, and NOT the 64 bit.

Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

As mentioned by Slysoft there is issues right now and they are working on it. Like I said maybe I just got lucky who knows. Slysoft is working on it and will be fixed by the time of the new OS release I'm sure.

Re: @SlySoft, Windows Vista Beta 2 & AnyDVD 6.0.1.1

@ Plextools,

Perchance have read the #2, #4, and #7 postings by SlySoft Technical Staff concerning Windows Vista Beta 2 and the SlySoft AnyDVD software program in this thread?

I believe SlySoft Technical Staff has clearly stated that AnyDVD, CloneDVD, CloneDVD Mobile, and Virtual Clone Drive do not work correctly in Windows Vista Beta 2, are aware of this fact, and are working to correct the problem. It should be noted that Windows Vista Beta 2 is in fact BETA software and as such contains “Bugs” that both Microsoft and 3rd part software developers need to workout the glitches.

Re: @SlySoft, Windows Vista Beta 2 & AnyDVD 6.0.1.1

I think people need to be patient with especially beta versions
SS fully supports xp x64, while many other software developers don't support 64 bit OS stating it is not worth the .00000001blah blah% user penetration

I fully agree about the beta software. I have been doing numerous testing with the Slysoft products, and wanted to see if others are having the same problem.

Thanks for your replys, and hopefully things will be worked out as time goes on. I will problaby load XP Pro back on one machine for my Slysoft applications. However, you will see a 12 - 15% increase in speed with Vista 64 bit in your internet applications.

Regards,

Beta Tester

PS I was just looking for a remedy if they knew a quick work around.

Re: @SlySoft, Windows Vista Beta 2 & AnyDVD 6.0.1.1

i'm sure once slysofts develops a remedy the update will be posted on their site at www.slysoft.com

vista is constantly changing as well which, as a beta tester, i'm sur eyou are aware. it may not be efficient or economical for slysoft to develop a fix until the operating system becomes more stable.

slysof tis very good with remaining in touch with customers and with support issues so i'm sure as soon as they know, we will too
