has anyone been able to use anydvd & any other program other than clonedvd2 with a 16a7s sata.
anydvd is not removing all the protects on the fly with shrink or recode2,..but it does work with clonedvd2.
I still can't figure out why this 16x's and my litey 20x's only work with clonedvd2,...yet I can rip with anydvd then go to shrink or recode2 with no problems.

I had a user that is well known here with the same issue and with another program dvd next copy it seemed to work just fine this has something to do with the new litey's firmware and they know about it but from what I heard aren't going to do anything about it due to they know what they are doing and want it this way. Although I don't know if the user was using a sata drive or a eide drive.

My Lite-On 16A7S worksd perfectly with most any ripper program. And it is incredibly fast and reliable. And the output works great with programs like DVDShrink and CloneDVD2. Your problem probably relates to whatever titles you are messing around with and AnyDVD.

Some folks are having problems with the newer liteOns when using AnyDVD along with several of the most popular movie "backup" programs.

My 16A7S failed on every attempt to backup with AnyDVD running in the bacground with CloneDVD2, Shrink, 1ClickDVD, and recode; the drive worked fine for ripping with DVDNextCopy, MagicDVDCopy, and FAB.

I think there is something within the firmware that conflicts with AnyDVD. The strange thing is that it seems to work fine for some.

it is not the movie, there is a litey firmware conflict with the new 18x's and 20x's and anydvd.
I have a litey 16x's 165h6s LS that works with anydvd and shrink & recode2 combination.
I knew that my 20x had a conflict.
I just uprgaded to sata mobo and only have one ide input so I went ahead and bought the 16x sata litey so I could add it through the sata serial port,..which works fine. very fast transfers burst rates up to 67mb and does a good job with dl pressed dvd movie titles.
at the time I thought it would work because this 16x drive has been out for a while and would work like the 165h6, I was wrong .
I can rip with anydvd and then use shrink or recode2, no problems, but this adds another 7 to 12 mins to do a movie.
example of why I know it's a conflict.
I can take a movie that has no Sony protection.
i.e. Any Given Sunday.
I dissable anydvd (not running in background) Shrink runs perfectly.
If I have dvd running then it will give me the error that disk has protection and will fail to read (decrypt).

I whish James would correct this because my litey sata is a fast ripper (no rip guard),..but I doubt if he ever will since the litey's work if you use elby clone software,..so it's about sales not support of slysoft working with 3rd party software,..which is a shame for all of us litey users.

If your about to say what's the problem just go ahead and use clonedvd (which I have) it's because recode2 and shrink give much better results movie quality for my 47inch HD TV when compressing movies over 110mins long.

I know of no one that it works for,..I haven't found any posts saying that it worked,..I think when they say it works it's because they are ripping first,..and they are not just going into shrink or recode2 with anydvd doing it's thing.
Like I said I can do movies with little protections letting shrink remove and compress as long as anydvd is not running.
It's as though anydvd is actually "leaving" some code that clonedvd doesn't have a problem with this drive but 3rd party will.

There was some discussion on another forum, acutally two different forums where some members reported that their 16A7S and other newer liteOn drives worked with AnyDVD. They all reported that they used the 16A7S as the ripper with anydvd running in the background with Recode2 as the backup program and a second try with 1ClickDVDCopy Pro and in all instances the drive ripped without error. Go figure.
