If it is a problem, Slysoft will fix it. If they have the .ifo files as you say, my bet is that they are working on it as we speak.

We probably won't know better until the dvd is officially released.

People have purchased brand new copies of movies before, had problems with anydvd/ clonedvd2, returned the discs (they looked flawless and in some cases played fine in dvd players), and the exchanged copies worked. So even if the discs appear to be brand new--and even if several people have problems with the same specific title, the real problem can still be a quality control issue. When this occurs, the issue is very difficult to diagnose at times.

It's possible Anydvd still needs to be updated to address Region 1 Saw 3, but I think Slysoft thought this issue was fixed already. Take a look at these posts:

Re: saw3

It could be exactly as Webslinger has said. There have been bad source discs on alot of titles recently, I would try another disc.

Sorry to disapoint but have popped to a freind who received his genuine copy of the movie this morning from www.dvdworldusa.com a different supplier to me and the exact same thing happens when you try and back his up and I have trawled through another forum and it is another sony Arccos protection based on unreadable Sectors thats causing the problem this is a first for me never in 4/5 years have I failed to back up a dvd regarless of region.
These dvd's are official dvd's these are genuine region 1 dvd's released by the movie industry to the american public.

Re: saw3

Well if you truely believe there is a scheme going on disable anydvd and then gather all the IFO's and send the ziped IFO's to sysoft but I willing to believe that it is a bad source disc, did your friend get his copy at the same place....Sounds like he did. I ran into this problem a while back and getting a new source disc from the same supplier was an endless battle.

Re: saw3

No I did not get my dvd from the same place as my mate I use a different company I own in excess of 750 original dvd and 90% are region1 I would say 50% are bought from the same company as i bought saw 3 never had a problem with any other dvd I own but saw 3 is certainly well protected from anydvd at present ifo already sent to slysoft.
I do not post much as I have never felt the need to as I have always managed to make a full working back up of all my movies no problem I have been doing this for along time now and finally one has hit me which seems to be very well protected I have even tried some of the early methods that I tried years ago smart ripper, ifoedit tmpeg etc etc but no luck.

Re: saw3

It's possible that Slysoft needs to take a look at this title again. /shrug

But we probably won't know for sure until we get closer to the official release date.

maybe a foreign R1 disk has protection dissimilar to a R1 disk actually sold in the USA

ie a sold in UK region1 Saw3 might have different protection from a sold in USA region1 Saw3
just a thought

Re: saw3

Disks sold in the UK can not be R1 zaq (unless sold from a secondhand store).

Fulldiskbackeruppers can use RipIt4Me. AnyDVD will, I am sure, have a fix for this in a jiffy.

Regards

Yes they just popped out an update in the past 48 hours?????? So it could do this movie. Slysoft is working on it, and like I said on another forum can't really offer too much help considering this movie isn't in general population just yet for the most of us.

Well, if Slysoft isn't, based on scrim1's solution with Ripit4me/Fixvts, Slysoft probably should be. I guess Anydvd doesn't work on a full disc backup of Saw3 yet. I'm sure James will fix this.

I wonder what happens if you just run FixVTS on a drag and drop Windows Explorer rip of Saw 3 (with Anydvd running).

Good question.
The reason I mention this is because the version of FixVTS that's incoporated into Anydvd ripper hasn't been updated for awhile--while the standalone version of FixVTS has just been updated very recently. So, in order to test this properly, no one should be using Anydvd ripper. After dragging and dropping the video_ts folder to your desktop using Anydvd, try running that folder you just ripped through FixVTS 1.603.

Thank you Les for that info, I realize that UK disks sold locally there are R2 pal disks, but OP mentioned mailorder/internet order
What I meant was and now add is maybe mailorder RI disks to countries outside USA and Canada may have a diferent sector protection.
I maybe reaching here, was just a thought as some R2 disks have variant protections base on market disk is sold in maybe R1 does too

Also I don't believe the OP asked for alternate AD programs

Re: saw3

@Webslinger - I have analysed this DVD quite a bit. The trouble I believe is in VTS 16-99. Not knowing the inner workings of any decrypter, the issue is really to get past the single call to VTS 99 and back to first play PGC. After that, ALL VTSs over VTS 15 are just rubbish. Hope the movie is better than the authoring - I liked the first 2.

@zaq - In my experience, posters want a solution, any solution (lower case a). ADVD will give it to them in a short period, I am sure.

If I may be permitted a general comment. All rippers now need to be able to load any of these ridiculous pointer-related corrupted IFOs and probably need to figure out a general solution to this mess the studios are throwing at us. Recent IFOs are barely legal to the spec. and my belief is that Silent Hill, R2, Germany and The Man, R2, Italy, were way off spec. If the rippers can load anything, perhaps the studios will stop corrupting their IFOs. We can but hope, I guess.

Regards

That may be in your experience,
but here the OP was asking specifically for help with AnyDVD
(higher case A)
As pertainaing to your comments about rippers needing to evolve to handle all the new stuff, you are absolutely right
Regards
Zaq

@Scrim
it would not hurt to resend the .IFOs to Slysoft
if they are the same, no harm done
if different will help SS come up with a new update

Zaq,
I would tend to agree with Blutach's post #36 in this instance.
In post #30, where the OP, Scrim, did in fact state that he tried and was successful with another program. This statement would imply he was looking for any solution, regardless of program, IMHO.
