Re: Ripguard

Why yes it does. Make sure you get 5.6.3.1 as it's (currently) the latest version.

Uhhhh, I think you're thinking of the suncomm protection on audio cd's or something cause Ripguard on *DVDs* does not install anything on your computer. Besides that, AnyDVD would block the autorun part of the DVD anyway. So, as Tru said, no....

Re: Ripguard

The region of your Madagascar copy? Holding the shift key down has absolutely nothing to do with backing up this movie. AFAIK only Region 1 has ripguard on it.

Re: Ripguard

Ripguard may be on Region 2 according to this post.
But holding down the shift key to defeat ripguard sounds to wierd!?!
How can that affect inserting dummy sectors?

Regards,

Re: Ripguard

The article you reference was written (and all the comments are written) before Ripguard was officially seen in the wild. So, ummmmmmmmmmmm.

you're right but when i was disperately looking for a backup method 10 days ago i din't notice the date so i've tried with success...first i held shift key and then i started anydvd...

i'm just reading from slysoft site that RipGuard could be copied together with elby CloneDVD2 since AnyDVD version 5.4.1.1 and now that i think about it i had used this version so i must thank AnyDVD

Sorry for my mistake

Re: Ripguard

I tried to backup Madagascar Region 4 (Aus) and it is protected with ripguard.

I have the latest AnyDVD but it still says 'Out of Memory' when it trys to burn.

I ended up copying the Video Dir. to HD and then ripping it from there. Works ok.

Maybe the 'hold down shift' works, need to try that.

That's ok. It just didn't make any sense to me that holding the shift key down would have any affect on the copy whatsoever. Ripguard doesn't install anything on the PC, and the only thing holding the shift key down would do is prevent the DVD from being autorun. Those guys are Slysoft rock, I tell ya!

I doubt it'll have any affect. But, DVD Shrink has some issues with ripguard unless you copy it to the hard drive first with AnyDVD. This is one of the reasons I like Vob Blanker as I rip out useless crap I don't want anyway. But, then again, I use CloneDVD so I don't have this issue to begin with. The out of memory error is for those who try to DVD Shrink the DVD directly with AnyDVD without copying it to the hard drive first.
