It's a maxed to the eyeballs Falcon system and a well tuned XP setup. I'll put it this way, with TES4 Oblivion I just set all graphic options to their max settings and go play, without slowdowns or glitches. It helps to be retired and able to afford indulging my hobbies. It's definitely not your average system.

I won't overly comment on the copy protection issue as the fact that I bought the product is a good indicator that I have a different viewpoint. The only thing I'll say is that you'll be missing out on a dynamite product. Each to his own.

As for the person who says there was never a free version of DvdRemake, yes, there was, I used to use it. Although, I must admit, you'd have to go back several years and a whole lot of versions to the time when I used it, version 1 point something or other and a name change if I remember correctly. It's had a whole lot added to it since then.

DVD's like that are out there. I've seen it on 5 or 6 DVD's so far, with FBI and Copyright warnings at the start and with Dolby Logic et al "brag", er, copyright notices at the end. It's no big deal though as they're very easy to take out.

I use this stuff to back up each DVD I buy, about 500 or so at current count, which may be why I've seen it and you haven't. My grandkids, and 3 cats, taught me the hard way the necessity of using only backups for viewing if I wanted to hang on to my movies.

Really, I thought v1.4.6 (which was the last v1) was not free. You must have it a lot earlier than that then. Well, I didn't use it until v2.x.x. Before then, I was using IfoEdit, modifying the old fashion way - not too thrill though.

True, it's a piece of cake.

Re: Remove Annoying Trailers ... Jump To Main Movie ... works, but ...

hey hey hey, all of you, lets stop it before we get into a war of minds and poor heinzie is responsible for it.

my original question was answered (several times, at that): S H R I N K does it perfectly, ANYCLONE cannot. sad but true. maybe the beaches at antigua are to tempting, after all ...

here i asked a simple question, and start an argument that at times i could not even follow (but thats easy to achieve), and get some 40+ postings back and forth, and 800+ views.

when i asked, somewhere else, an even more simpler question (can NERO 6.x convert to/create real standard, non-RECODE, but DIVX/XVID avi files), i get no usable answer at all ...

go figure.

but once more, tks to all of you, and keep on fighting!

greetings - heinz -

PS: for those of you who kept on asking for particular DVDs that were encoded this way, have a look at my 'location'. you then can guess why i get a lot of strange, but perfectly legal DVDs that are setup in ways that both europe and the USA cannot even dream of. lucky you ...

20th Century Fox, Touchstone, & Sony, have been inserting these warnings and such into the first chapter of the movie for quite sometime now.
An example from realeases from this week are:
Tristan+Isolde
Casanova

You know, the hell of it is, FBI/Interpol warnings have never bothered me, as they go by reasonably fast. It's only when the various studios started placing those damn previews you can't jump out of that I got serious about editing DVD's to remove content. Before that I just used to copy the DVD. They really, REALLY, annoy me.

Heh... Another thing about movies over the last 15-20 years that really amazes me are the interminable credits listings. Sheesh, who in hell cares to know who it was that made the cast/crew's morning doughnuts on the 2nd Tuesday of the third week spent on location, or the name of the 32nd executive/sub-sub-associate producers grandkids cat. Not that I watch them, but Good Lord, enough already!!!!!

LOL, I second that.
And the studio introductions have gotten out of hand. It's like watching a movie before the movie begins.
When I'm trying to squeeze a long movie to DVD5, I don't get much out of watching lions roar, boys fishing from the moon or running down a pier and jumping in a lake. Many are much more elaborate. Cutting this junk out makes a big difference on the compression meter.

Heh... As a movie buff and purist my wife makes me look like a rank amateur.....

The first time I edited out the extra studio intros I was on the receiving end of pretty pointed remarks about idiots who butcher movies ruining the viewing "experience" and conjugal rights. Oh Yeah, and don't even think about removing any extras!!! Thank God for DVD Rebuilder Pro!!

I surely don't understand how it butchers anything, but "Peace in the Family" means I say "Yes, Dear" and leave them in.

My wife would rather just skip to the movie and get on with it. I guess I'm lucky in that regard!

Without monetary gain gets me....why try to scare the guy who wants to put the original away, and hand the kids a copy?
If the industry had it's way, they would probably make it illegal to even tell someone else what a movie is about, or better yet, forbid you to remember it after you have watched it.

I have to admit, the sound effects in those intros can be stunning. Just like going to the movies with surround sound.
Better to keep the peace even if it means buying DL media.
