Ref: Compression & using ANYDVD

Hi everyone

My apologies for using a thread of some two months ago regarding better compression engines.

First let me say that D2O is a remarkable programme and simple to use, but (there is always a 'but?'), there are obviousley more powerful compression engines somewhere out there, I say this because I have recently seen a 4.5Gb dvd with all five 'Rockie' movies on it, and all complete too?

I haven't the slightest idea how it is done. Perhaps someone could enlighten all of us please?

regards

Most likely they are SVCD, or even VCD, movies daisy-chained onto a DVD.
While some of these SVCD transcodes can be of excellent quality, they are by no means DVD quality and use a correspondingly lower bitrate (less than 2.5 Mbits/sec), together with a smaller frame size (480 x 576 in the case of PAL).
All this makes for smaller files - hence the ability to fit several movies on one DVD disc.
