Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

I bought AnyDVD in Sept 2005 with credit card and have been using it o.k. until a few days ago. When I downloaded latest update SlySoft began giving me the "trial Period is over" message. I have sent several emails to SlySoft Support, giving them my email address and month of purchase and screen shots of my SlySoft directory. I even gave them my Registration Number for my CloneCD and CopyDVD2 purchases. Unfortunately I never wrote down the AnyDVD Registration number. I am getting the run-around from SlySoft on this. I refuse to buy it twice. has anyone else been treated so shabbily by SlySoft?????

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

When you purchased AnyDVD you were sent a registration key which you were told keep.
All you need to do is find this registration key and double click it to register AnyDVD. You should close out AnyDVD before doing this. When you installed AnyDVD 6.0.4.5, AnyDVD apparently lost your registration information. This process will re-register AnyDVD for you so you will regain full functionality.

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

use your system restore to go back to the preinstall date
then you can extract your key from the registry from here
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SlySoft\AnyDVD\Key]
export this entry and save it to a safe place

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

An apology to Dr Who, and everyone else I might have offended:

Here below is the body of my email this morning to John Smith at SlySoft Support:

_______________________________________________________________
Hi, John

Well, I certainly have a red face this morning. I would have sworn in a courtroom I bought AnyDVD directly from SlySoft, just as I have my CloneCD and my CopyDVD2. Your comment (and from others), about the fact my so-called legitimate purchase could not have been in form of a zip file, caused me to go to eBay and call up all of the auctions I had won in the past (over 50 of them). There it was, in September of last year. After having been so hateful to you and SlySoft in some of my past emails, there is nothing I can say at this point except I am extremely sorry for that. In all your replies to me you have been, at all times, a polite gentleman and a credit to your organization. Suffice it to say, I am going on-line immediately and hope you will still sell AnyDVD to me.

Regards,

A contrite Andy in Dallas

poboy
excellent post
sorry you got conned from that ebayer and it is too late to file a charge back
but probably wouldn't hurt to file a fraud charge on that seller with ebay as the license is supposed to be valid lifelong and it wasn't

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

I un iggied you to see the post comment. Sorry I should of been alittle more tactful myself. Glad you investigated the issue due to all the responses here. Smart move. Anything that's on ebay is a iffy ordeal. Not always but it is a iffy to bid or not. I learned my lesson years ago. glad to see it figured out. Sorry for your misfortune.

On a side note welcome to cdfreaks.

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

I myself have been very skeptical in the past
but believe me SS reg keys do on rare occasion get accidentally decommissioned
but SS will fix a genuine case in very short time
less than a day or even less
Read the sticky for more details

Re: Purchased AnyDVD Sept 2005. Suddenly SlySoft Now Claims "Trial Over"

If you've purchased AnyDVD legally, use a flash drive to back up the Registry Key, and if necessary, burn another copy to a CD or DVD. That's what I've done, and I've even sent it to my G-Mail account as backup.
