But anydvd is reporting now on several dvd`s wrong dvd structure.

Ive now disabled protection on bad sectors on dvd`s that do this as I know they have no protection. Is this a false positive does it harm the copying process in anyway?

help with what? what exactly is your problem? a lot of DVDs suffer from a wrong structure unintentionally (not a copy protection, but stupidity).

Re: protection detection error?

my question was

Is this harming the copy / backup if i leave this turned on then, copy protection based on unreadable sections.

If its a dvd mastering compilation error. Do I then copy the disc with this function enabled or disabled does anydvd then correct the disc stucture? Im assuming an incorrect dvd structure cannot be used for copy protection.

So therefore if any dvd isnt told to look for copy protection on unreadable sectors like arcos ripguard. Its now telling me the disc is perfect and no errors and now doesnt find any problem at all with the disc structure.

So my question is its not protected as far as it sees it so what has it now seen fit to fix with arcos and ripguard enabled when its not one of those discs.

No, of course not.

You leave it on. An incorrect disc structure can indeed be used as a copy protection.

If this option is disabled, AnyDVD will not look at the disc structure and will not detect such errors.

Re: protection detection error?

i don't know the answer to your queston, but you posted an hour ago. In that time, you could have made copies of this disc with and without anydvd enabled and tested yourself whether or not it affects it.

why don't you give that a try?

I'm interested in the answer now too.

EDIT: James beat me to it
