Re: Problems with Superman Returns

That was a good job, no doubt.

Just one more comment. I went back to the email SlySoft sent a couple of days ago advising me of the new version 6.0.8.8. I didn't bother with that email, I just went to the site and downloaded the update. Now that I am reading the email, it does say this:

Quote:
Enable the "highly aggressive I/O mode" only, if you use software which
otherwise will not see AnyDVD's magic, like InterVideo DVDCopy,
1-click DVD-Copy or Pinnacle Instant copy.
"Aggressive I/O Mode" should not be necessary if you use well designed
software
. Using "Aggressive I/O Mode" may degrade system stability.
Two things that I highlighted in bold caught my eye:

1) The word "highly" as part of the new device.
2) "...well designed software."

In my personal opinion these programs are all well designed, but may be slightly less stable in the I/O Agressive Mode, I have had no problems at all.

Re: Problems with Superman Returns

looky, did you reboot your computer? Besides the "Aggressive I/O mode" issue, AnyDVD requires that the computer be rebooted otherwise the softwarre would not start.

Just to clarify, with "well designed" I meant "designed in the way Microsoft has officially documented how to access optical drives under Windows 2000/XP/Vista". It doesn't mean that it is "bad software" per se.
If a program "doesn't follow the rules" (which I consider "not well designed") it requires the "aggressive mode" which - as a consequence - doesn't follow Microsoft's guidelines as well.

Re: Problems with Superman Returns

Copied superman Full at 57% with DVDfab 3.0.4.0 disk to disk (used 2 Drives)
Used split Mode to get a 2 disk (4.xx Gb) set at 100%. Looks like the original.

Be Smart Turn off all other dvd authoring software before using DVD Fab products.
DVDDecrypter Copied Superman returns to my hard drive OK.
Yhen you can use Nero on it.

Re: Problems with Superman Returns

I had a problem using DVDShrink, silly me. Tried CloneDVD and it worked fine. Just for kicks I then tried to rip it to a drive using AnyDVD, use Nero Recode and that worked fine. I then took the rip and used Dr Divx to make a DivX file and that worked too.

Re: Problems with Superman Returns

I see absolutely nothing unusual in the R1/widescreen "Superman Returns" release that should cause any of the discussed programs to have the slightest problem with it. Just for fun, I ran my dvd of this title through DVDDeCryptor 3540 (yeah - that old program that many folks erected headstones over when LighteningUK dropped development). It processed the complete dvd with nary a hesitation (and no PSL needed) and DVDShrink handles the created files just fine.

Re: Problems with Superman Returns

Maybe you should post in the DVDFab section instead of bumping a two year old thread in the AnyDVD section?
