| Problems with my key.anydvd So, for background: I purchased my AnyDVD and CloneDVD keys as a bundle from the slysoft web page after the trial period for my AnyDVD was up. I recieved them in an email from Slysoft, and downloaded them to my hard drive. I ran both keys, and both gave me a message that registration was successful: ---- Registration of c:\documents and settings\DJ\desktop\key.AnyDVD ok! Please restart AnyDVD ---- CloneDVD worked like a charm, but AnyDVD was still giving me the message that the trial period is expired. So, turned off AVG, I uninstalled anyDVD and said that it should remove the registration information. I reinstalled and tried the key again with no luck. I uninstalled again, tried renaming the extension of the key to .reg, and it still did not work. At this point, I was getting annoyed. I did a registry search for Slysoft and AnyDVD, and removed all the entries I could find. I rebooted, reinstalled AnyDVD, rebooted, tried the key, and it still did not work. So, from here, I opened my the key file and found the path that it is registering the key to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SlySoft\AnyDVD\Key The key provided in the file is located in this entry in my registry (its quite long), yet anyDVD will still not function. I had a long drawn out email correspondance with Slysoft (over the course of several months), but they were rude and unhelpful when I tried to pinpoint the problem. I tried sending them my DXDiag to show my system components and see if anything was amiss, the response they gave me was: ---- Hi, An analysis of your DirectX components won't help. We have tested your key on 17 different systems. It works perfectly. Best regards, John Smith Customer Support ---- After this email, Slysoft stopped responding to my pleas for help. I work in product quality at a software company, so I have several test machines that I run software on. I tried installing AnyDVD on several of these machines, and running the key, but it did not work on any of them. I have a feeling that the key they are using internally is somehow different than the one they sent me, or that it is being placed in the wrong place in my registry. Does anyone have any clues? |

| Re: Problems with my key.anydvd This sounds interesting. I never had any problems with my registration or the support. Do you have some antivirus software or other strange things besides AVG installed? The key is a simple registry entry.I do not see a reason for problems on a normal system. |

| Re: Problems with my key.anydvd Hi What more could you want. Have known AVG to identify AnyDVD as a virus, this tended to happen when auto notification of updates was enabled. If this happens to you try avast. To all @ slysoft ![]() |

| Re: Problems with my key.anydvd Man lol... I've been in support for a long long long time and I've NEVER seen a company pay someone for their mistake. Slysoft, you guys rule, that's just all there is to it. Must be really nice down there in Antigua. I just had to go look at the map to see where you are - go out on the beach and have one of those coconut drinks with some rum in it for me. It's frickin cold up here in the US right now!! |
