Problems installing AnyDVD 5.7.3.1

After I upgraded to the above version on my machine, Windows refused to load normally. It would get to the loading screen before flashing a quick blue screen error (so fast I couldn't read it) and then rebooting the PC. It would boot into Safe Mode, however, and I was forced roll back to the System Restore point for version 5.6.3.1 to get it to boot normally again.

Uninstalling and reinstalling the current version while in Safe Mode didn't work either.

Anyone else having similar problems?

Win XP Pro SP2/2.66GHz P4/1.5GB RAM

Thanks for any assistance

Did that, worked like a charm. The only problem is that (actually this has happened for the last couple releases) I get an error message when Windows is loading that says "Cannot place icon in tray" and a lot of my system tray icons don't load.

For now I get around that by disabling the Autostart feature in AnyDVD. If anyone has any other bright ideas, I'm open to them.

Thanks for the help so far.

try to diasable un-needed program startups
keep only antivirus, firewall,antispyware etc
when
you get ready to burn/rip
disconnect from internet and turn off all your other software including AV and other programs, unless your pc supports multi processing

Perhaps entering in the RUN BOX... MSCONFIG ?
This is the spot that the instructions are for the icon tray... Generally this is also the spot to disable icon start up.

Dont know if this will help but you can download a FREE TRIAL of Tuneup Utilites 2006 at cnet.com It has a feature to reload your icon cache etc.

Excellent Utility for all kinds of stuff, best one going. Liked it so much i purcahased it.

May sort your icon issue out.
