I bet you are right, bad source discs are rampant, it has happened to me a number of times.

Im having the same problem...
Tried with CloneDVD, AnyDVD, DVDfab, and DVDdecrypter. Nothing is working on this disc and its not dirty its brand new. Any other ideas?

Hi rupchurc and Welcome to the forum. Are we talking about the same disc here? Prison Break. I still think there are a bad batch of source disks, even though it plays does not mean it is not bad.

Yes, Prison break Season 1 Disc 1. Ive seen this kind of thing happen before with disc and seemed to be related to protection software cause in the past Id just get the latest version of software and normally that would fix it. But normally if CloneDVD doesn't work, DVDfab does. So maybe your are unfortunately right.

Well I do have good news and hopefully helpful for anyone who could have a similar problem in the future. After cleaning the disc very carefully, I ran it through a simple DVDshrink with nothing changed, exact backup. The backup was successful and I've already watched it as well no skips, perfect. After plenty of struggling something is normally bound to work. Its just a matter of what will work for you.

Things to try
1. CloneDVD with AnyDVD active and select 'clone DVD'
2. AnyDVD direct copy to harddrive feature, accessed by right-clicking the task
bar icon and selecting 'Rip DVD video to hard disk...'
3. DVDdecrypter and recode with DVDshrink
4. DVDFab exact copy
5. DVDshrink exact copy

This is enough variations, and one is bound to work for you. Just much time involved. And always remember, even the smallest smudge on the physical disc can cause an issue with certain burners or software that is tediously decrypting the video files.
