Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Try disabling Anydvd first--and then use Shrink. The disc doesn't appear to be protected and is region free, which is odd for a commercial release.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

No difference, I'm afraid. The disc DOES have the CP triangle on the case, but that didn't seem to stop the same read problem cropping up...I tried this with Safe Mode both checked and unchecked, if that helps.

Try right clicking the fox and rip it to the hard drive then process through your burning app.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Does this happen with other dvd movies--or just this one in particular?

If it's just this one, then please follow these steps mention this thread in your email:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...7&postcount=29

If no movies work for you, then Anydvd isn't functioning properly on your system, and I (or someone else) will respond further and try to help you.

Dr. Who's suggestion may provide a work-around method as well.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

I've tried this before and can't figure out how to use it...where do I put the ripped file and how do I get DVDshrink to find the file to read? This step has been beyond me to date. Someone once mentioned saving it to the desktop---I think---is that a reasonable approach?

Saving to the desktop is fine using Anydvd ripper. You need to tell Shrink to open the video_ts folder on your desktop.

I am a bit puzzled that Anydvd isn't finding any protection on your disc at all, except perhaps for invalid VOBUs.

Again, does this issue only occur with this disc only--or are you experiencing problems with all discs?

If you're experiencing a problem with just this disc, then informing Slysoft may help:

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

OK, I copied it to the desktop. I tried DVDshrink and got "Failed to open file ...VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.VOB"

I tried going straight to DVDdecrypter but it wouldn't read the file...it wants a file name. What should I use and where do I name it?

This happens only with this disc.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Perhaps there is no VIDEO_TS.VOB file on the original disc and only a reference in the IFO file that there should be one. Try to run FixVTS ( http://download.videohelp.com/FixVTS/ ) on the files you have ripped and then try to open them in DVD Shrink again.

If this works (and I'm not saying it won't), then something is wrong with anydvd ripper:

from http://www.slysoft.com/download/changes_anydvd.txt

5.9.1.1, 2006 02 15

New: Added "AnyDVD Ripper". This little tool repairs defective DVDs
while copying them to your harddisk. It can be started from the menu of
the AnyDVD fox icon. It can be started as a stand alone application from
the start menu as well, so it can be used even if AnyDVD is not registered
and the trial period has expired.
It is identical to FixVTS (http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/) but instead
of fixing problems "in place" it copies the files to your harddisk directly
from the source DVD. It fixes the problems while the files are copied.
Some DVDs which have severe mastering defects e.g.,
"Menace II Society" R1 (US) can now be copied with all DVD copy tools
(elby CloneDVD, DVDShrink, etc.) Many thanks to the author of FixVTS!

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Based on what I've been reading here is that the included source code from FixVTS is rather old and have not been updated since almost a year. The original program FixVTS has been updated since then. Version 1.25 and up to recent versions includes this:

In my tests FixVTS 1.3 and 1.4 do not work as well as older versions.
You must know that a lot of work is already done by the core AnyDVD part, so there is no need to update AnyDVD ripper everytime if FixVTS is updated.
Of course, FixVTS' latest version is 1.602 as of this post.

If newer versions of FixVTS does do things that Anydvd ripper cannot do, this lends support to those who feel Anydvd ripper needs to be updated.

That said, I, for one, prefer not having to rip at all before using a burning application (which is one reason I bought Anydvd three times).

Consequently, I hope if the OP did the following, Slysoft might be able to address this compatibility issue with this disc, anydvd, and Shrink (without having to rip anything first):

Jpmccusa -

Although this doesn’t have anything to do with your current problems with “Alexander Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain” I notice that your Pioneer DVR-111D Firmware v1.06 is old and out dated. The current most up to date DVR-111D Firmware is version 1.29.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Sorry for posting a suggestion. Seems the one and only workable solution is to send the IFO files to Slysoft.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Suggestions are good as well as your knowledge you do share. I for one enjoy reading those. The correct procedure is to get the IFO's to slysoft and then there's no harm to help them now.

Re: Problem with "Alexandero Jodorowsky's The Holy Mountain"

Update---FixVTS 1.602 solved the problem. Does this mean I have a bad disc or was something new involved, do you think? I have sent an extra email to slysoft bringing them up to date, too.

Thanks for all the help, folks!

re: BeLooken---pardon my ignorance, but how do I change/update the firmware? Whenever I contact the helpline/website in the isntructions, they want me to install Nero again---it took 3 days to get rid of it and I'm not putting it back in again...

Something new.

And Anydvd ripper needs to be updated, then. I hope Slysoft looks into this.
