Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

I'm in the process of evaluating for puchase AnyDVD, cloneDVD to backup DVD's and play them from HDD using VirtualDrive9.

I made use of AnyDVD+ DVDshrink+CloneDVD+Virtual drive to create suitable in size ISO/ DVD files for burning DVD's and for creating VCD files.

Such created backup DVD's played fine on my DVD player and on my kid's PS2.

However, when playing these Backup dvd's on my PC (on the liteon DVD writer used for burning) I got, in specific chapters, servere reading trouble (either using Nero Show Time or Windows Media player, either causing reading to stop or to become ectic or even the system to hang (apparently directx crashes, video card "reset",... ).

I eventually succeed in having played trouble causing chapters, by playing around in various dvd players options which I still not figure out how they possibly could overcome these troubles!

Last, I got the same kind of troubles when playing from VCD files.

Any clue on what's going on?
Shall I give up!!!

(latest version of anyDVD (trial), CloneDVD (trial), DVD shrink (3.2), Directx, Virtual drive 9)

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Hard ware:
I have NEC-3500A DVD burner, firmware 2.16. As media I'm using Memorex 8X DVD+R.

Software:
- AnyDVD 4.1.1.2
- CloneDVD2 2.5.3.3

I have a DVD from Region 2 and I'm trying to clone it to Region-free. Or trying to make it Region 1, so I can play it over here in the US. In AnyDVD Under the "Feature Removal" Tab I selected/activated all features. So I activated to remove the Regio code software, Regio code hardware and Code Scripts.

I've tried to make a direct copy with CloneDVD with the "Clone DVD" option. After the DVD was made I tried the new "region-free" dvd in my stand alone dvd player but didn't work. I'm getting the same message as with the original region 2 dvd saying that the dvd in incompatable.

I also tried to copy it with the option "Copy DVD Titles". This with I hadf the same result.

And I've tried a 3rd option. Copied the DVD to the hdd (and also tried it to make an ISO file) and then burn it to an DVD but each time with the same result. Incompatible DVD.

And I'm sure it's not the media the burner can not handle. I'm making my own movies and burn them to the same media and they work fine in the stand alone dvd player's I have.

There is one more thing that just came up in my mind. I had an Error message during the installation of AnyDVD. I printed the Error copy, and this is the whole message it gave me.

"Error opening file for writing:"C:\Windows\system32\ElbyCDIO.dll" Hit "Abort" to abort installation, "Retry" to retry writing the file, "Ignore" to skip this file."

I've tried "Retry" but that didn't work. Then I tried "Ignore" and the installation did go on. Afterwards it looks like AnyDVD was working fine. I can play each DVD I wanted.

Maybe this has something to do with it. But I realy don't know.

With the search option in Windows I searched for the ELBYCDIO.dll file and I found it in the system32 folder.

Please can somebody help me.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Sorry if this comment should be posted somewhere else - or if it's just off base. I'm very new to using AnyDVD and CloneDVD. I think that it needs to be made clear to noobs like me that AnyDVD doesn't really do anything until you start using CloneDVD (or, I guess, some other authoring program.) I expected AnyDVD to rip the DVD files independent of the other program. Searched "How do I know AnyDVD is working" - no help. I wasted a lot of time looking for the "start ripping button" . Finally realized that the "button" is in the other program.

Well, AnyDVD does indeed work without any other program:
Drag the VIDEO_TS folder from your DVD to your harddisk - voila, there is your rip!

OK. I didn't know that, but my point is that I don't think any documentation that I've read, including MadBob's Guide, has really made it clear that AnyDVD doesn't have a button that starts the ripping: Some other program must start using the DVD's VIDEO_TS folder, at which time AnyDVD begins ripping. Windows Explorer is the other program in your drag and drop example.

The reason I posted my newbie observation is so that if any other newbies search "How do I know AnyDVD is working" they find an answer. Mission accomplished.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

What softwareversion are You using ? If You have updated to the newest Nero 6.6.0.3
(and NVE3.0.1.14 !) this is Nero's bug or perhaps a deal with the copyprotection-people !

Just keep AnyDVD and go to http://www.nero.com/en/General_Clean_Tool.html
and download the total uninstallingNero-tool which will "clean up" Your system
for Nero-traces and then reinstall 6.6.0.1 and especially NeroVisionExpress3.0.1.4 !

I've got this Delius DVD from England which has a region code of '0' but it still refuses to play on anything except my PC. I've successfully copied it using ANYDVD in the backround and again without it and again with the settings changed. Everything I copied I can read with the Plextor DVD burner but not one of three different home theater DVD players can see this damn thing! What's the problem and can it be corrected?

This could be a media issue - what brand are you using? Try a good brand such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Ollie,

When are you going to fix the autorun problem? Autorun does not work with dvd videos and the disc name is not displayed in explorer when a disc is inserted regardless of whether the 'autorun' feature is enabled or disabled in the anydvd options

This is annoying as I like the windows option box to display when I insert a dvd so i can choose to rip or play.

Hope you can help us out here.

Thanks dude.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Using Win XP Pro, AnyDVD 4.4.1.1 Beta, Latest Nero Recode, Plextor 16x DL DVD Burner drive with latest firmware and PlexTools Professional...

I get the following error:
Nero Recode 2 Encountered an Error.
Failed to read from the file VTS_01_0.VOB.
The parameter is incorrect.

The DVD is Brude Almighty.. I'm pretty sure this is happening because of AnyDVD, but I have no idea how or why? Any suggestions or solutions would be much appreciated.. Thanks..

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Dear Sir/Madam,

I tried AnyDVD for 4 days and purchased it today. It is a great software.
The only problem I'm experiencing so far is that when I start AnyDVD manually, or it starts at PC startup, it produces a warning message telling
that DVD device is not found (not connected, or whatever). Window
Explorer shows that all DVD devices are installed. After I ignore this message
everything works just fine. Why I'm getting this message, is it a bug?

How will I get AnyDVD updates?

Regards, erenshte

I believe I've found the problem. Next AnyDVD version should fix it.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Hello,

If I mount an iso image with Daemon Tools 3.47 and AnyDVD is loaded, it will refuse to mount the image. If I close AnyDVD, Daemon Tools will mount the image.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks.

No, but I suggest you create a new thread. Posting multiple questions in one thread causes multple answers to intermix and make it hard to follow. Thank you.

Re: Please post your AnyDVD Questions here

Hello

I’m using AnyDVD 4.5.7.2 to play some region 2 DVDs successfully on my computer.
However, since it is working on the fly, I thought I would be able to play a DVD from another machine on our home wired network. The problem is: I get images, but no sound. Any idea why this happens?

It would be so nice to watch a movie on the big screen that we have in the living room, away from the (not so noisy but…) computer that is in my home office.

How can I get some sound, please ?

Please post questions in an own thread. This one should be closed.
To your question: Yes, this is possible. AnyDVD must be installed on the computer, where the physical DVD is present (at the DVD server location).

I know Oli said to create a new thread on this but if you haven't gotten an answer to your question, you probably have ANYDVD set to process the virtual drive letter Daemon creates. Go into AnyDVD's prefs and uncheck the drive letter that Daemon uses and you sould be golden. Good luck!
