Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

I am having trouble with this one as well. It gets to 50% and then ERROR! Cyclic redundancy check! There are no scratches on the cd, it's perfectly clean, I even cleaned it just to make sure. Has anyone found a solution for backing up this movie yet?

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

I can rip it in file mode to the hard drive with dvd decrypter, but dvd shrink can't process it (invalid file format). I was going to try FixVTS on it, but then said to heck with it and used ISO read in dvd decrypter, then ISO write in IMGBurn to burn it to a double layer disc.

No prblems here either with the latest verison of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, I will try it with Shrink, but it could just be a bad batch of source discs.

No problem with 6.0.9.0 and CloneDVD2 or 1Click DVD Copy.... even though 1Click is on the "bad" list. j/k

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

I've tried to copy the movie using anydvd and clonedvd2, both the newest versions, and am still unable to copy. Also used anydvd with dvdshrink. I will try putting dvd in a different drive and try again as someone mentioned someplace that might make a difference.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

So...is there anyone that has had the problem of getting it to copy because it was receiving a cyclic redundancy check at 50% but has since found a solution around it?

It's a bad source disc or possibly try a different player as some players are more forgiving than others.

The latest version of 1Click and AnyDVD 6.0.9.0 (Safe Mode unchecked) will work fine with this DVD. Could be the original disc or your reader as Dr. Who suggested.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

*** UPDATE ***
Ok Just as some had suggested, I put the dvd into a different drive and was then able to copy no problem. Hopefully this will be the fix for others having the same problem. I used Anydvd latest version, and dvdshrink. Thanks everyone for the help!

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

No problem with R1 disc (AnyDVD 6.0.9.0 and CloneDVD2 2.9.0.1) - only oddity was with DVDDecrypter 3.5.4.0 (I make an ISO to keep full quality backup on HDD) - that had pack header errors in the first VTS file. ISO and backup play fine anyway....
Edit: backup time was normal for my system (Athlon64 XP3000 1GB RAM, Reader is ASUS 16x DVD-ROM DVD-E616A2 f/w 1,03, Burner is BenQ DW1650 16x f/w BCIC) - ~15 minutes to transcode, ~6 minutes to burn....

Finished the rebuild with dvd rebuilder and used clonedvd to burn without any problems. Watch movie and the burn was great I just forgot the reason why I hated this movie until after I watched it again. It does not really end they want you to go to the next movie this summer to see how it ends. Hate that.

Re: Pirates of the Caribbean 2

DVD43 is not supported anymore so it would definately not work. The latest AnyDVD would work though.
