Open Season can be backed up fully using Slysoft products.
You are correct Webslinger. Recode and AnyDVD work fine on this title.

I can personally vouche for that as well.

I've also seen that the latest 1ClickDVDCopy programs with AnyDVD 6.1.1.4 was successful as well.

I also just used VOBBlanker 2.1.3 Beta4 with AnyDVD and blanked VTS 11 (trailers), and VTSs 17-84 (unreference crap ) to again, make a perfect copy of Movie, Menus, & Extras which than I processed thru DVDshrink. Perfect!!
This VOBBlanker also was able to be loaded into DVDRebuilder as well. So it's another way to be able to use free programs with AnyDVD...VOBBlanker w/ either DVDShrink or DVDRebuilder.

So looks like everyone is defeating whatever the movie industry is throwing our way....
Way to go everyone!!!

So could I. I don't even have the DVD

Yes, but why should I have to buy 2 products?

MBK's methods are original and seem to work, although I am sure jsoto did not intend for VobBlanker to be used in this way.

All I know is that jsoto authored a fantastic program in VOBBlanker, he deserves credit that it is so compatible.

BTW Blu, Thanks for recommending Blanker to me in the first place..

I'm not suggesting you need to buy anything. I am well aware that freeware methods do work. I choose not to use them, mostly (but I also strongly believe they are valuable, and I have nothing against them; I also find value in opensource projects). That's my personal preference.

As for why I might want to buy and use Slysoft products, that's another matter entirely. And if you wanted to debate that matter with me, I'm sure the thread would get very long and pointless at some point.

Regardless, Recode, Clonecd, Clonedvd2, 1-Click, and possibly others appear to work with these titles and Anydvd 6.1.1.4. Unfortunatley, Shrink doesn't (and possibly others) unless you use freeware solutions.

Kudos to Slysoft, after weeks of being warned that this title would be trouble, it was a pleasure to have AnyDVD/DVDClone2 make a back-up with just a couple of clicks!

Oddly, someone is reporting success with Shrink 2.3 and Anydvd 6.1.1.4

That's 2.3--not 3.2.

Weird

Re: open season

I had no problem backing up Openseason FS US version full disc. But I did notice one thing Openseason has same structure as Saw3 I had to delete last 3files for it to work.

To work with Shrink 3.2 ?

No one is reporting problems with the WS version and Slysoft products (plus Recode, etc).

Re: open season

I've used AnyDVD + CloneDVD2. I can't back up Saw3 full disc just movie only. Actually I could back up Saw3 full disc by delete last 3files but it wouldn't play on home DVD player except on pc. I know this is Openseason thread but it seems related to Saw3.

Anydvd 6.1.1.4 and Clonedvd2 2.9.0.3 can do a full disc backup of Saw 3 R1 including full menus, trailers, etc. Period.

If you're having a problem, chances are your original disc is faulty (even if it looks fine and plays fine; there are quality control issues with this title).

In order to improve the chances on playback on your standalone dvd player, follow these steps:

1. Visit your burner's website, and update your burner's firmware

2. Use good quality blank media. Try Verbatim (CMC), Maxell Broadcast Quality, etc.
If you're going to make a double layer backup use Verbatim + R DL media (made in Singapore)

3. Use Nero cd-dvd speed to change the booktype of your blank media: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/
This is a free program. (Click "Extra", then "Bitsetting". Make the change to "dvd-rom" for the disk type that
you're using and click "set".) This step improves playback compatibility with standalone dvd players.

I've been using this forum advises such as media , DVD burners, programs they all work perfect except per this Saw3. Hey! movie only is fine with me. And I think it is bad QC on Saw3 so means there are a lot of bad ones outthere. Oh! and I think The Grudge2 US version has same structure as Saw3 and Openseason but I did back it up fine with AnyDVD + CloneDVD2(Full disc).

I haven't been able to make a full disk backup with Recode for either Saw 3 or open season, using AnyDVD 6.1.1.4. But I was able to make movie only back ups. My full disk attempts wouldn't play on my stand alone player, some sort of looping problem.

So the kinks haven't completely been worked out yet.

Either you're using an older version of Recode or there's a problem with your original disc.

visit http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...8&postcount=27

In fact those having problems with Clonedvd2 (due to what I feel is a hardware compatibility issue or a driver issue with Anydvd) used Recode without problems:

http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...4&postcount=71

and

http://forum.slysoft.com/showpost.ph...3&postcount=87

This person might not have used Recode, but did use Nero (at least) and Anydvd:

I made a back-up (one of several back-ups I made with different programs and methods..lol) of the full disc using Recode w/ AnyDVD and it plays perfectly. Not sure what you did wrong but Recode did it without any special settings or anything. All I did was delete the unwanted audio and subtitles, thats it.

I'm using Nero 7 ultra edition....Recode version 2.3.2.0, I suppose there could be a conflict with this version of Recode. Since I can't make full disk backups of either Saw 3 or Open Season, I don't think the problem could be bad source discs.

I'm using Verbatim DVD+R. I'd discount low quality media as the problem as well.

As I stated, my movie only backups play fine....Full back ups are the problem.

Yes it will, and CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD will also do it just fine along with a list of other programs too long to mention.

There are bad source discs out there for both titles (and a fair number of them).

Re: open season

Is the increasing number of bad source discs related directly to the changes in copy protection used on these new titles? or is this just more problems related to poor quality control by manufactures of these titles?
