Re: New Version Of AnyDVD

I upgraded to the new version, and all went well.. until I rebooted. AnyDVD popped up an error message (I did a screen cap of it but can't see anyway to attach it here). Saying "Failed to read DVD" and then gave all the reasons as to why.

But just prior to dling the new version and installing it, I had been watching the DVD. Just to be sure, I checked: Nope, No damage, no dirt, no smudge. No hardware setting had been changed.

So, just for giggles, I reinstalled the upgrade, rebooted, and the problem mysteriously vanished.

Pent 2.8ghz, 512 megs ram, WinXP, Iomega External DVD player(the drive the DVD was in) Matshita UJ820s DVDRam

Hi
If you read history ( or just look at the info provided by jutaejr ) you'll see this is a new feature which seems to be permanantly switched on

Yes, even a single click does this! Using your right mouse button would reveal the mystery (as always).

Did you send IFOs (with AnyDVD disabled) to support(at)slysoft.com and bugs(at)elby.ch? If you didn't, you don't have to wonder why you still have problems.

(AnyDVD release notes talk about Closer Italien version, not UK)

Thank you. Please try this version:
http://update.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD5231.exe

Let me know, if it works now. Please use CloneDVD. It is possible, that other programs like Nero Recode or DVD Shrink do not work yet (hard to tell from the IFO files).
Don't forget to recommend our service, and don't forget to order your AnyDVD license (you don't seem to be in our customer database).

Re: New Version Of AnyDVD

Thanks for the quick reply!!! Tried it with CloneDVD and Nero - both come up with a CRC error reading VTS_01_1.VOB. I have made sure that the disc surface is clean, and is totally free from any scratches.

Does AnyDVD detect the protection? Have you activated default settings in AnyDVD? Please cut & paste the text from the information window.

AnyDVD did do something, but maybe not enough. Sorry, but this has to wait until we receive an original disc of "Closer" (or a similar protected disc). "Closer" will be released on Monday in the UK, it can take 2-3 weeks until I get my copy.

Re: New Version Of AnyDVD

Aww well - good job I own the original - cough cough - thanks once again for all your help - pretty amazed at the service it has to be said! I take it you physically have to have a go at the disc? I would be willing to send on any other files if it would help - I do have a pretty speedy bb connection (okay I know upload speed still sucks)

You will also be pleased to know I should now be on your user database.....
