Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

That's funny. Never had anything but trouble and conflicts from Roxio. But there is one poster on this board who says we are remembering the old Roxio versions and that the new version is pretty good. Maybe so, but I still hold a grudge about how it used to alter Windows so other programs crashed.

BTW, I never figured out what SCHMENDRICK! meant. And I looked everywhere, up and down, clicking on every link and NEVER found those naked tits you talked about above! MOST disappointing old boy.

Interesting, someone on the AfterDawn board had trouble copying it and AnyDVD saved the day for him . . .

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

SONY NEW COPY PROTECTION ? I've been using dvd shrink, dvd decrypter, dvd fab decrypter, successfully up until the new Bewitched dvd.None of them worked so i tried my old outdated dvdxcopy, which i haven't updated since they went out of business.I loaded the dvdxcopy then loaded the movie holding down the shift key the entire time, and that worked perfectly. Sometimes when backing up cd's i have to hold down the shift key to bypass the sunn program copy protection which rely's on windows to help run it, the shift key won't let some copy protection load. It worked for me, so maybe try an old program with the shift key ,it suprised me too.

@ LA7

Welcom to the Forum.

Suggest viewing the Forum posting titled “Bewitched”
(http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=153419) and navigate to posting #93 and you will see that SlySoft has released a “beta” version 5511 of AnyDVD which corrects any problems the previous versions had with the Bewitched DVD Title.

Best Regards,

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Good LA7(!) ... someone with courage enough to say something good about the late 321 Studios. Everyone kicks it around because of 321's abominable later products.

I may not be speaking of the version you use since you didn't state the version. In my opinion, Express sucked. And Platinum Sucked big-time. But the final version of the "ORIGINAL" DVD-X-Copy ie version 1.5.2, when combined with AnyDVD is still, to this day, one of the most stable, trouble fee backup softwares to use.

Episodics and Special Features disks confuse 1.5.2 so that's why I my friend Ireland introduced me to CloneDVD and I ended up marrying her. I would never introduce DXC to my Mom or you guys, but for movies only, I still have a secret love affair with 1.5.2 to this day. It has an almost perfect 1-click logic. DXC started me on my backup career almost 3 years ago and is one of the best kept secrets of the past on any forum board! So bring-it-on Sony(!) because as long as I have AnyDVD's "latest", all I have to do is get into bed with my lovely 1.5.2, click once then come back 20 minutes later, put in the second disk and click again! Total satisfaction.

Alot of people call it DVD-X-Copy when what they really have is Express or Platinum. Only the original product (no compression features; only split features) of DVD-X-Copy should be referred to as simply "DVD-X-Copy"

Just ask Ireland!

Best regards,
Whisperer

If you don't want any more trouble from SONY or sunn comm copy protection, regardless if DVD or CD:
Install AnyDVD and be happy.

I know Slysoft like to put new releases out quick smart so i'm sure they'll have a beta or something ready within about 10 mins of getting the IFO files.
I've run into a few titles lately that behave the same way using DVD Decryptor. The program acts as normal, and reports the ripping completed, however when you go to Shrink for analysis and encoding, the output files are invisible to Shrink , but are there in the hard drive directory.

Brothers Grimm, I copied by simply eliminating my usual first step with Decryptor and Shink did the trick by itself.

Today, A Better Tomorrow did the same thing, so I gave the latest releases of Slysoft a try. They copied the movie without a hitch, and given the type of support they seem to be famous for about this forum, I'll be purchasing their software.

DVD Decryptor is still the bomb, and my day to day choice for burning copies of ISO files, or making copies of unprotected disks. Thanks Lightning UK!

A little free utility called DVD Identifier will prove helpful. It reads the actual manufacturers ID as opposed to the label on the disks and packaging. A lot of consumer labeling in the US is irrelavent to the actual disks. For example, Microcenter was selling DVD-/+R disks under Windata label 8X, which on examination were 4X disks made in Hong Kong, whereas the previous batch I bought were actually 8X Riteks. Memorex disks may come from several different Pacific rim manufacturers, and may or may not be what the label says they are.

The most consistent label in my experience is Verbatim, but the good ones are MCC(Mitsubish Chemical Corp). Once you find a disk that burns well with your equipment, sticking with it, and checking to make sure what you bought is the same as what you've been using saves unpleasant surprises, and having to constantly download firmware upgrades.

That's an inaccurate statement. LUK no longer owns the rights to DVD Decrypter as he gave them to macrovision as part of a settlement with them. He himself, however, is not owned by anyone as far as I know.

@anonymous999
when someone big goes after your rear end and holds on and never lets go
they own you
when you can no longer say what you want to say, do what you want to do and otherwise muzzle you and make you fear your own shadow
well........... then they own you
right back at you

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

the latest Sony protection?

got an original copy of The Squid & The Whale (Columbia/Sony, of course).
used nero (and AnyDvd)- everything seemed fine- made 2 copies.....BUT the copies START on chapter 7??? 1st 6 chaper are missing? 35 mins of the beginning of the movie are NOT there??

tried playing the original DVD on several of my standalone players in the house & there's NO problems- plays fine w/the 1st 6 chapters?!

used windows media player on my laptop & 2 desktops- & it also starts on chapter 7? then rebooted the computers & they played fine from the chapter 1. but when tried using nero again, the movie starts on chap7 again?

tried DVD decrypter & then nero imagedrive method- decrypter craps out 1/2 way through?? even my disney dvd's works this route!!!!

some sort of recognition on this dvd copying - which makes it jump the 1st 6 chapters?

this is really bugging me.....

anyone out there can help?? squid & whale will be released mar 21/06.
