Ah well that might explain why I am the only one having this problem. I only used Anydvd to rip the problematic VOB which would not previously rip. But I had already ripped all the IFO's with dvd decrypter alone before resorting to Anydvd. So that would explain it. Apologies for the confusion.

Anydvd probably doesn't have a bug after all. Just me. Sorry.

It is difficult to test, if we only have the .ifo files, and not the physical DVD.

AnyDVD does not only deprotect the .vob files, it does deprotect and fix structural errors in the .ifo files as well. You should not copy parts of a DVD with AnyDVD enabled, and other parts with AnyDVD disabled. This will cause problems.
Please let me know, if CloneDVD can copy the DVD with AnyDVD running in the background.

I still get an invalid block start code error in Clonedvd with anydvd running in background. Can anyone else confirm this ??? It might just be something I'm doing wrong...

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Sorted problem by first running each disc through dvd2one, without compressing. Loaded resultant files into clonedvd, hey presto... life is good again...

This might be a CloneDVD bug... Which DVD was this? Little Black Book? She hate me? Country UK? UPC (numbers below the barcode)?

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

It was Little Black Book and She Hate Me. I'll have to go check what the UPC numbers were... I'll post back later.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Couldn't find any numbers below bar code. But there was a number to the left hand side D1-37489-S-UK for She Hate Me. Is that it ? No.

Sister has borrowed Little Black Book so unsure what code for it is.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

If you use shrink, have it write an image. Then "extract the immage to:" using winrar (www.rarsoft.com) (shareware). press it through crypt again, and then you will be able to pull out all the adverts and crap they stuck in. hey olli, GREAT program, I've had it since you first released it.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Download free trial of Slysoft Any DVD 4.6.3.1 and let it run in the background, I then used a programme called VobBlanker version 1.6.0.6 and processed Layer Cake, and VobBlanker sure ripped it with no problems.
Once files processed run through DVD Shrink and burn.
I have copied The Forgotten, Layer Cake, Resident Evil 2 and Little Black Book using this method.
Using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 would decrypt but unable to compress with shrink afterwards.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Talking about Sony protection. This is the first time all decrypters, shrinks, ripers Nero etc. have failed. This must be a new protection.
A FRIEND had "Curse of the Ring" region 4 (Sony Picture) twice from two different sources. Decryption stops always at 65%. All programs are up to date and it also isn't a hardware problem.

Send IFO files to SlySoft. It has been discussed many times, how to do this. Less talk, more action!

Failed on what? I backed up Layer Cake without problem using AnyDVD/ CloneDVD. The only problelm I ever had turned out to be a bad manufacture batch. I tried 4 brand new dvds of the same movie that stopped at the same spot. I was convinced it was the protection, I finally did a scandisc on the pressed disc and it had bad read errors. Never had a problem before or after.

Mastering error, most likely. But send the IFOs to SlySoft and we'll see.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

I'm sure Slysoft can keep tight reign on the ARccOS protection, since it's not the primary protection included in the DVD spec, (CSS) which has already been cracked.

I really have never had a problem with movies that I purchase and then backup or recode to fit my mobile needs, Slysoft has done a great job in making a excellent product. My hats off to Slysoft team

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Actually several news sources are showing that RipGuard hasn't been picked up AT ALL (two very small studios have optioned it for a trial run on a couple movies later this fall), and that Arccos is seeing virtually no movement outside of Sony.

Essentially the manufacturers are realizing that the casual copier is ALREADY stopped by CSS, and that protections like RipGuard and Arccos are pricey and ineffective.
