Thank you! I've checked it, AnyDVD 4.5.8.1 should break this protection as well.

ARccOS™ is a passive copy control technology with a dynamic copy protection system. Every single ARccOS™ guarded DVD-Video title can be equipped with a different encryption code.
I guess this is why it seems to be so many, they are not different protections, they just enter a new encryption code for each movie in different regions.

I wonder if Slysoft will be able to just beat the copy protection itself and not just have to look over every .IFO files and fix each individual encryption code.

In the future by fixing one encryption code will it cause problems with another, in the long run?

Hamp, you believe the BS on the Arccos Website? There is no individual encryption code on Arccos protections. According to LIGHTNING UK!, this is what happened:

Correct. They changed the link command to fool the Arccos detection in programs like AnyDVD. Sony seems to be very desperate.
It took me 10 minutes to change AnyDVD to check for the new link command. Sony's attempts are useless.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

This has been quite an effective protection, however.

I was able to eventually rip the disc to hard drive (with thanks to LIGHTNING UK! and I promise I'm not stalking you) but the only program which could encode the VOBs was dvdshrink. Normally I prefer to first strip out any unwanted content using clonedvd but was unable to do so because it gave an error. Has anyone else managed to process these dvds (LBB and She Hate Me) with anything other than dvdshrink ???

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

At the moment, you pretty much 'have' to use AnyDVD if you want to compress these protected discs with CloneDVD. Maybe DVD Region Free by Fengtao works... I dunno.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Even using anydvd (the latest one with fix for this, 4581) the only program that could compress the protected discs was dvdshrink. Which isn't that big a problem as dvdshrink is probably the best compressor around. But I would still like to have a choice...

With more and more protections coming out and the inconvenience it causes, companies like Sony are beginning to win.

I don't know how you can say that with companies like Slysoft cracking the protections before they are even officially released. Why the pessimism, didn't you read the thread It took them 10 min. to overcome their last feeble try.

If it didn't work at least with CloneDVD, AnyDVD probably has a bug.

No need to worry. Bugs can be fixed. Maybe next time Slysoft should spend another 10 minutes for testing?

only memorex -r discs are not very good i use alot of the 8x +r without a problem in fact most of them scan to be ritek r03's or cmc mag e01's

The point is their last feeble attempt was not so feeble.

There is still a restriction on how you can copy the disc. You are more or less forced to use dvdshrink. But say you don't want to use dvdshrink. Say you want to strip out all the adverts and unwanted trailers, and I mean completely remove them and not just replace them with a still image which still uses up space ? For that you need clonedvd. But clonedvd doesn't work with these discs. Because the protection has not yet been FULLY cracked.

Didn't anyone notice the big black screen at the beginning of each movie VOB on both discs, the movie doesn't start until about 42 seconds in. Not when you play the movie using the menu. But if you go to VTS_02_1.VOB (She Hate Me, VTS_01_1.VOB for LBB) and double click on it, you will see what I mean. That's not meant to be there. It's part of the protection...

I'm not an expert but I think the problem is in VTS_02_0.IFO (SHM) VTS_01_0.IFO (LBB) so it's really more of a Clonedvd problem than Anydvd. The bit at the top seems to be sending Clonedvd into a fit... This is for She Hate Me and I just pasted a small portion as it does take up quite a lot of room. Sorry.

AnyDVD should take care of this (it did with previous Arccos versions). If it doesn't, it is probably having a bug.
