Try to use different DVD's, I bought some Memorex DVD-R's because I thought I was getting a good deal, 50 for $20 (U.S.), but I have had to throw away half of them. I have a few extra DVD-RW's so when ever I have a problem with the Memorex I use those and I have no problems. Try to stay away from Memorex DVD's even if the cheap price is attractive because they suck. I wish I would have just bought Fuji or Imation like I always do.

Best thing to do this:

1.) DISABLE AnyDVD (little fox on the taskbar should be grey).
2.) Navigate to the VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
3.) Copy all files ending with .IFO to your harddisk. ONLY those with .IFO, not the big .VOB files!
4.) ENABLE AnyDVD again (just in case, so you don't forget it)
5.) ZIP the .IFO files to one file. Name it with a cool filename (e.g., Little_Black_Book_UK.zip)
6.) Write a an email to support(at)slysoft.com (replace (at) with @). Name your problem, try to identify the disc (e.g, Little Black Book, R2, UK), the UPC number if possible (below the barcode on the package). The information output of AnyDVD can be helpful as well.
7.) They like if you include the AnyDVD version and your AnyDVD serial number in this mail. You find this information in the Settings Window -> About.
8.) Attach ZIP file with the IFOs and send it.

If you like, you can send this mail to bugs(at)elby.ch as well, so I can have a look at these .IFOs as well.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

Macrovision® Introduces RipGuard DVD™ to Dramatically Reduce Digital DVD Piracy

Combination of Macrovision Analog Copy Protection and RipGuard DVD creates world’s first analog and digital DVD content protection solution

SANTA CLARA, Calif.— February 15, 2005-Macrovision® Corporation (Nasdaq: MVSN), the world’s leading supplier of content and software value management solutions, today announced the worldwide availability of RipGuard DVD™ a digital rip-control solution for DVD Video. RipGuard DVD plugs the “digital hole” created by PC-based DeCSS ripper software, which allows millions of average consumers to make unauthorized perfect digital copies of copyrighted DVDs in mere minutes. These copies can be burned to inexpensive recordable DVDs or uploaded onto the peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. P2P downloads and the “rent, rip, return” of DVDs are an ongoing source of billions of dollars in annual revenue losses for the movie studios.

RipGuard DVD is a unilateral content protection system that is applied to DVD discs and requires no additional software or hardware to be incorporated into PCs, DVD players or DVD recorders. The combination of Macrovision’s analog copy protection technology (ACP) and RipGuard DVD provides comprehensive DVD protection for both major piracy threats faced by video content copyright owners — the analog and digital holes. RipGuard DVD is a technological solution that effectively protects a copyright owner’s rights. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) makes it illegal to attempt circumvention of such technological measures.

I don't know where you have sent them, I have not received them.
But I have received IFOs for the DVD "The Forgotten" (RC2) some days ago. I believe "Little Black Book" (RC2) has the same protection.

Please try AnyDVD 4.5.8.1, it should work for you:
http://update.slysoft.com/SetupAnyDVD4581.exe

Let me know, if this fixes your problem. If it does, we can release it officially.

Re: New Sony Copy Protection?

I just tried downloading the new anydvd 4.5.8.1 off the above link, and come to install it, only to be greeted with a currpt file error message. Is it just me having a bad day or has anyone else had a problem installing it?

I can confirm that is sent the IFO's to slysoft at 13.21 this afternoon from the U.K, as i also sent the same info to Fengtao at DVDidle.com who sent me an updated dll file for his DVD Region+CSS Free 5.80 which fixed the problem.

I made a perfectly good back up using clone copying the film only along with the menu. I didnt try backing up the whole dvd, although i would assume it should work.

I am happy again many thanks to everyone with their help and advice.

Yep, the download seems to be corrupt atm. When I downloaded it, the file size was 208k.

Found it! The new version should work with "Little Black Book". But you did not send IFOs for "She hates me", did you?
