One or more blocks might be corrupted by a prior copying process or by the soure device covering critical read errors. Try copying the video files to your harddrive (again) and retry. (PS 10 VOBU 4 622 7 Picture Reader)... any assistance is greatly appreciated... thanks.. Happy Holidays everyone... especially Ollie..

What program is giving you that message? That's not an AnyDVD message.

Try doing what it suggests - copy the files to your hard drive and work from there.

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

Why doesn't either poster name the backup software and version number they are using?!

Is your copy of Toy Story 2 and original or a copy that you are trying to copy?

What Gurm means by
Quote:
copy the files to your hard drive and work from there
is to use Windows Explorer (with AnyDVD running) to rightclick drag and rightclick-menu/copy-drop the original movie's Video_TS folder off the DVD disk to your HDD and then use, for instance, CloneDVD's "Write Existing Data" feature to make your backup.

Best regards,
Whisperer

Hi,
Using anydvd latest version, also dvddecrypter, also dvdfabexpress. VTS file 25 seems to be the problem.
I also tried vobblanker but it hits error at same spot.

Ken
you should post the version numbers of the programs and the exact error messages you get (and which programs they're from). the more complete the information is the quicker and easier people will be able to respond to help you.

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

Ok I did it:
Shut off anydvd. Used dvddecrypter to rip to hd. Then used clonedvd2 to burn as usual. Worked fine!!
I think anydvd was the culprit in this one. Whenever I had anydvd running in backround it wouldn't copy.

do you have dvd decrypter setting set up to be more compatible with anydvd?

see this post for details.

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

Ya, what reasonsnotrules suggested is the only reason for the failure.
In DVDD: go to the "I/O Tab - Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"

Also agree that posting "latest" version is un-helpful (in the future...)

Personally, I don't think you even needed DVDD to do this backup. CloneDVD and AnyDVD should have sufficed. But I'm glad you got a working backup.

I guess the original poster, chuckit69, went walkabout!

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

I had the same problem as others trying to backup Toy Story 2. I have dvd x-copy platinum 4.0.4, dvd dycrypter, I tried dvd shrink, clone dvd (trial), and 1 click dvd copy (trial). After none of that worked I tried running any dvd(trial) in the background with the same programs and I still had no luck. Finally I downloaded dvd43 and ran it with 1 click dvd copy. With my fingers crossed I watched it reach 100%. Finally it's backed-up.
I also backed up Madagascar which is another apparently tough one to back up. Looks like I'll be purchasing 1 click dvd copy. It least I won't have to buy any dvd (for now).

So for those who are still struggling what worked for me is the trial version of 1 click dvd copy with dvd43 running in the background.

After installing DVD X-Crappy, 1-Click DVD Crappy, and DVD43 (43percent chance of failure)... your machine is such a cluster-fuck of defective software that it's impossible to tell what does and doesn't work for you.

To reiterate: AnyDVD+CloneDVD works fine for this disc.

LOL.
As soon as my raptor comes in everything is getting re-installed anyways so I'm just looking for the best software at this point. What's wrong with 1Click DVD Copy. It looks good to me. I was looking at reviews from this site.

Hi
What an interesting site. If you follow their what to look for guide, they recommend picking s/w with seperate copy protection removal s/w. Yet their top two come intregal/built in. Go figure.
BTW check the cost, hence AnyDVD+ CloneDVD2=VFM.

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

Now you two are really making this decision tough on me. Do I buy 1Click DVD Copy and d/l dvd43 (which did what I wanted it to do with the trial) and the cost will be $59 or do I buy AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 (which the trial did not work) for $59?

CloneDVD2 ticks me off because it's trial doesn't actually back-up a dvd. So I don't know what I'm buying. Where as 1Click dvd copy does allow me to back up 3 movies and it worked with supposedly hard to back-up movies. But they rely on other software to work.
What to do?

The comparison chart on that site
http://dvd-copy-software-review.toptenreviews.com/
is the worst piece of warped, wrong, clueless dis-information I have ever read! It cannot be based on true testing. It must be based on the feature set printed on the boxes of the software. Or profit margin, advertising revenue, kickbacks, or just outright bribery!

What a JOKE! This site is a biased, weighted profit center not an impartial test & review center.

superflysmith,
Gurm knows! You have so MANY different backup softwares loaded that you are getting known conflicts. And I suggest your testing methodology is not valid.

Keep the downloaded zips for each program (so you can re-install if you desire later) but un-ininstall everything including CloneDVD and AnyDVD. Don't use Windows' "Add / Remove Software" (which is flawed in it's functionality) unless you have to. Instead, got to Start/Programs/..... and use each program's proprietary "Uninstall" routine if they have provided one for use. Reboot after each program is uninstalled, then go on to unistall the next one. One after the other. After the final reboot, empty your Windows trashcan and your Norton trashcan if you have Norton on your system. Reboot one last time. You could defragment your HDD at this time if you feel you have the time.

Do a clean install of CloneDVD and AnyDVD. To eliminate one last variable, get fresh downloads from here
http://www.slysoft.com/en/download.html
After installing one of the two, don't cheat on the reboot required... do it. Then install the other of the two and reboot again ... no cheating on reboots or registry entries will be flawed.

Now backup Toy Story. In CloneDVD, try the "Clone DVD" button method first. Some movies do have to be ripped to HDD first, via windows explorer with (AnyDVD running) and then burned via CloneDVD's "Write Existing Data" button method.

Also will you please state the version number of CloneDVD (which no one has stated yet) that you were having problems with. We need to know if you got the fake CloneDVD by mistake which might have happened if it was downloaded from that crappy website.

Best regards,
Whisperer

Huh? The trial of Clonedvd2 from www.slysoft.com is a fully working 21 day trial. You can backup as many DVDs as you want in the 21 days. It is not crippled in any way.

Maybe you got the clonedvd.net crap instead???? Make sure you get your software from slysoft.com (or elby).

Hi
This posting implies you did something wrong either on install or using the the s/w. Both AnyDVD & CloneDVD2 are fully functional for the trial period. The discs you mention. I backed up using these programs with no problem at all. Only once since I started using these programs have I had a problem (can't remember what it was), but the response to my email took less than 12 hours with the complete solution. The support is nothing short of amazing.

superflysmith
Please also state whether your problem is with Disk 1 (assume the movie disk) or Disk 2 (assume a special features disk).

The original poster, chuckit69 stated (he must have gone walkabout), in the thread title, that disk 2 was his problem. Is that also so with superflysmith?

Re: New Release of Toy Story 2 Disc 2 Problem

The disk I had problems with was from the dvd with both Toy Story and Toy Story2 together. So it was the second disc which is the actual movie with all the features.

As far as the version I d/l I'll have to reply to that when I get home. But I believe it was a slysoft product. I may have done something wrong, I don't deny that so I am not knocking this product in anyway.

I plan on giving dvdclone and anydvd another try. Once I get my new HD that'll be the first dvd copying program I try. I'll do a fresh d/l and try the trial program again. If it works with Toy Story 2 I'll buy it.

Thanks for all your help. I'll keep you posted on what happens. I won't be getting my new HD for a couple weeks though so have patience.

Nah ... no need. We're all here now.

A couple of weeks! Why don't you just uninstall like I said in post #18 and do it on your present machine? I don't know if I'll still be working here in a couple of weeks!
