New posters with ripping/burning problems

Before posting for the first time, please do some of us a favour:

1) Ensure you're using the lastest version of Anydvd:
visit http://www.slysoft.com/download.html

2) State a)the specific version of Anydvd you're using, b)the specific version(s) of the burning application(s) you are using (and stating "latest versions" isn't sufficient information; use full version numbers), and c)the specific version(s) of whatever other burning application(s) you have installed on your system.

3) Specify the a)full title, b)region code, c) country, and d) release date of the disc that you're experiencing issues with.

4) Specify a)the brand and b)model number of your optical reader and writer with c)firmware versions for these optical drives. d) Let us know what operating system (version number and service pack, if applicable) you're using as well.

5) What blank media are you using? Specify a) brand name b)type (-R, +R, -RW, +RW, RAM, DL, etc.) c)media code, d) capacity/size, e) batch codes/serial codes (often found printed on the inner plastic hub of the blank disc), and f)country (factory information would be great as well, if possible) where the media was made (look on the physical packaging; do not rely on programs to accurately give you this information).

If you don't know how to obtain media codes, you may find the following programs useful:

http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com and http://www.dvdinfopro.com/

6) At what speed are you burning your blank media?

7) Click the red fox icon in your system tray. Select "status" on the left hand side of your screen. With the problematic disc inserted in your computer, click the appropriate drive tab letter (the drive containing the disc) in Anydvd. In the window below the drive letter, copy and paste the information Anydvd gives you in your post asking for help.

8) State the full a)error message(s) you encountered, b)tell us what program(s) you were using when you received the error message(s), and c) describe in detail what you were doing when you received the error message(s).

9) Before posting, please use the "search" function on these boards. Many answers are available already.

If you're absolutely positive you've encountered a new protection, follow these instructions:

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...7&postcount=29

Thank you

@ Webslinger,

I totally agree with you above posting !

I only whish that the Newbies will actually read your above posting.

Also I whish that the Newbies would use the “Magic Forum Search Button” and conduct a simple Forum Search concerning their particular problem. A vast majority of Newbie problems are toughly discussed in great detail numerous times before.

Best Regards,
bjkg

Re: New posters with ripping/burning problems

I should have also asked what type of blank media (including media codes, serial numbers/batch codes on the outer/inner ring, capacity, brand names, etc.) is being used. Unfortunately, I can no longer edit my post.

Re: New posters with ripping/burning problems

I have been using the anydvd with the dvd shrink with no problems until today. I tried to get High school musical and it says it's too big a file. The movie is only 98 minutes long so I don't understand why it says file too big. There are no extra languages to uncheck for more space in the dvd shrink, I would think a 98 minute movie would be fine for space. Maybe this is a new kind of protection?? What do you think?

A mod should clean up this thread and lock it to prevent it from becoming a catch all for people with problems. This is a very useful post to reference.

Re: New posters with ripping/burning problems

here goes hate to say this but anydvd still as problems with sony and most others do to the reason being is sony is bloody nasty and bloody minded with its procection.the problem is ours and not theres .one way is to only have the movie because the f*&Kers put protection in commentary and ads so when using shrink click reauthor and just do the film and the same goes for anydvd untick all but the film. give it a try and let us know get the bas%%%ds and let us know
