Nero Recode freezes (stops responding) when i try to import a DVD

I am using Nero 7 Ultra ver. 7.0.1.4. I select import DVD from Recode and when the menu opens and I select the DVD title. At this point Recode freezes up Windows and I have to use the hardware reset button to reboot as <ctl><alt><delete> just gives me a blue screen. I am using an Asus DVD-E616P3 firmware 1.07 as the dvd reader and a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-109 firmware 1.58 writer. Hardware Info: Windows XP Pro ver 5.01.2600 Service Pack 2 AMD Semptron 2800T 2.00 Ghz with 480MB ram. Using an 85 Gig boot drive and a 200 Gig data drive. I have been running AnyDvd 5.6.3.1 and CloneDvd2 2.8.5.1 from Slysoft for months without any problems. I just got Nero7 Ultra because of all the extra programs it offers. No hardware or software probs of any kind other than this one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays,

MrTiggs

This sounds like "send a bug report to Nero". Or continue to use CloneDVD 2.8.5.1. It works.

Nero 7 just has too many problems. If you have Nero 6.6, you might want to go back to it until Nero figures out what they are doing.

I own 6.x and even though I have it I haven't actually used it in months. I burn all my discs with CopyToDVD and I've never had a problem. I tried Nero 7 out for about 2 days before it drove me insane. I ended up going back. And since I don't apparently qualify for upgrade pricing on 7, I will most likely never buy it. I see no value in it whatsoever.

Re: Nero Recode freezes (stops responding) when i try to import a DVD

Hello Folks,

I tried the new Nero v7.0.1.4 and didn’t pay much attention when I was installing it and it loaded everything including the kitchen sink. It is full of bloatware and has more bugs in it than my bug zapper. It screwed up all my file associations. Luckily I have a Norton Ghost image of my hard drive and that was the only way I could clean up the mess that Nero v7.0.1.4 caused. I recommend that folks stay clear of Nero v7.

Best Regards,
bjkg

It usually takes them 4 or 5 versions after a major release to get the major bugs shaken out. But a product the size of 7 will take a bit longer IMO...it's indeed full of bloat. And here I thought 6.x was bad in that regard. They've taken it to an artform with 7.

We freeware, shareware, and now crapware coutesy of Nero.

I don't know why they just don't stop with the upgrades and fix what is already out there. They are getting a terrible name on this and other boards but they act as if nothing is wrong.
Just my opinion.

Regards,

Using Recode, try importing from your burner, only.
