Are more errors introduced in *ripping* fast or in *burning* fast? I was wondering if, technically, it is more likely that you'll introduce errors by upping the drive speed using AnyDVD's "speed control" during ripping or burning (I'm using CloneDVD)? I want to rip and burn my DVDs as fast as I can, but I wonder if I am likely to get more errors in one phase than in another. I'm using a Plextor PX760A, using Verbatim DL media, and am wondering - if I rip at top speed, will I incur any likely error "penalty"? Or can I rip at top speed, but should burn at a lower speed closer to the "official" media's rating? Suggestions from experience? - Tim

Re: Are more errors introduced in *ripping* fast or in *burning* fast? For me, I had issues with some media when I Burned too fast. I don't remember any where I Ripped too fast and got errors. With some disk brands, trying again at 8x or 4x worked during burns, but with my Verbatim's, I can burn at 16x and don't seem to have any trouble.

Re: Are more errors introduced in *ripping* fast or in *burning* fast? I would only burn at 4x. If you try it at max burn speed there might be some errors. Why the rush? Takes things at a slower pace and things may work out better.

Re: Are more errors introduced in *ripping* fast or in *burning* fast? I rip mostly at night -- don't wanna stay up all night doing it! :-) I also wonder if my use of my Plextor drive's "Speed Read" function will reduce quality of the rips. - Tim

Re: Are more errors introduced in *ripping* fast or in *burning* fast? What it rips, is what it rips. I doesn't really matter how fast you rip. I remember there was a thread on digital-digest saying the the slower you rip, the easier you will be able to get through scratched discs. I usually just rip at max speed.
