I'm new to using anydvd and was trying to make a number of copys of the same dvd.
Once copied onto my harddrive how do you go about making an additional copy of the same dvd at a later time?

you use the files that are copied to your hard drive or sopy the original again.

anydvd now allows you to rip to your hard drive, but it isn't a transcoder or burner. you use whatever software you prefer to make the backup the same way you make the first backup...

what software are you using to make the backups? CloneDvd2 is a highly recommended program for beginners especially in combination with anydvd. it can also be trialed and purchased from www.slysoft.com

Most people here will suggest downloading Clone DVD2 you get a free 21 day trial on it and it will burn the movie when you tell it to.

Whatever you want, you can use for video files for example nero or prassi for iso images Imgburn or dvddecrypter best would be to try it out.

I'm using dvd shrink / nero to burn the dvd.
I have no problem burning a dvd after copying the original, but trying to make a 2nd copy is where I'm having trouble.
When dvd shrink asks where the file is located that I want to copy, I enter the file, but it says something like "this is the original source" and it only lets me cancel out .
I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear, but if so, I would be thankful for any advice.

Use nero only and do exact copy of disc.

I vaguely recall seeing those myself. If I remember, when Shrink is prcoessing files to be written, it stores files in a temp directory that you specify. When you go to make the second copy, Shrink wants to go through the whole process again, but can't because it alreadys 'sees' processed files.

The simple solution to your problem is to build ISO images. That way you can make more than one copy. As an alternate you could specify different folders for each job, but does one really want to go through that hassle?

Do not place your original DVD in the machine as it is not necessary. Instead I go to where the temporary files are stored and use " Open Files " instead of " Open Disk ". When making second copy with DVDShrink, if you get the warning " source and destination the same" I stick a " "/more " at the end of where the files are stored. Place blank disk in burner and away it will go!

Lets see if I have this clear:The file where the dvd is stored is varblues. Do I change it to varblues""/more" ?

lestervegh is correct.

dvdshrink will store the already transcoded files in a temp directory. close dvd shrink, open nero, drag the files from the temp directory into nero, and burn away.
