For MadBob re: AnyDVD & CloneDVD

I read your guide for using AnyDVD with CloneDVD, but I do have one question. My system currently has a DVD burner and a CD ROM. Do I need to replace the CD ROM with a DVD ROM in order to use this combination of software?

no, just use your writer to read AND write the dvds

As posted above you can use your Writer as a reader, although I wouldn't recommend it, why wear out the expensive Writer when you can get DVD readers like the JLMS (LiteOn) very cheap,

also there will be some movies that don't like being read in your writer so it is always advisable to have another choice to read from, I have two DVD readers and try to never use my Writer as a reader.

U guessed it!

That's precisely what I plan to do tonight...thanks to trial software.
Buying all software should be like this....try before you buy. On the other hand, judging from what I've read in the forums, it may be worthwhile to keep more than one ripping and burning product on hand. I'll let you know how things turn out tonight. Once again, thank you.

Amazing

2Fast 2Furious in 23 minutes and the quality is excellent. Time to pull out the plastic. I'll stick with AnyDVD and DVDClone unless they run into some problems....gotta go drop the plastic.

If you get coasters you should also consider slowing the burning speed down a bit, and looking at the Finalizing thread as there is a new DLL that could get round that problem.

Burning Speed?

As far as I can tell there is no way to adjust burning speed in Xpress, unless you know something that I don't. I've scoured the xpress forums and it seems that many Plexy owners are suffering my same fate. At this point I'm very content with the anydvd/ clonedvd results but it would be nice to garner something from xpress.

I was referring to this mention of CloneDVD and slowing the speed down.

Hmmmmm

I haven't burnt any coasters with clonedvd, only with xpress. How do you set the disk burn speed in Clonedvd? I'm still using the demo, perhaps it doesn't have that feature.

Slowing down the speed while burning? I click on my computer select the drive, right click, properties, recording tab, enable box, check it.. then choose the speed.

DVDXCOPY EXPRESS? Is that what you are talking about? Or DVD Express?

Demo is fully functional, same as registered version.

The firmware of your burner determines the maximum speed allowed for the media being used. You can change the burn speed in CloneDVD, but it will not burn any faster then what your firmware permits for that specific media.

I would suggest at first staying at 4X to prevent errors. Later you experiment and increase. By all means keep your firmware updated to the latest version because of the ever changing types and speeds of media coming out.

See below of where you change speed when you reach that stage of the copying process.

One reason to read with the 3500 is that you can get modified firmware with riplock removed so it is much faster. However, I do agree and most of the time use my litey 5232k for reading if I'm in no hurry and then I don't have to come back to switch discs.

Hamp - good observation
Sure as heck fooled me, didn't even look at the date.
Cadreamin you must be bored for weeding through two year old posts, either that or you enjoy reading history.

Sometimes while using the search feature you get results from old posts
