Rich86: so what's your point. I assume some of these people have bought the DVD and are trying to back it up. Others are just trying to help. Besides, I hear the movie sucks, the documentary Dogtown Boyz (I think the name is) is supposed to be much better. The movie is about the dudes in the documentary.

Thanks, I don't have time to play with DVDfab, but I will give it a try, thanks all for all your input, something will eventually work and I know you guys don't give up, so a more reliable software or fix will be on the way, I just wont have a back up of this movie until then. If Sony goes full blown on this, then my backing days are on hold until someone upgrades DVDShrink or DVD Dycrypter. Good night all.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

Hi all,

For what its worth, I am also having problems with Lords of Dogtown, Unrated Extended Cut, Wide Screen, Region 1.

Using anydvd version 5.4.4.1 and DVDShrink 3.2.0.15.

Ripping from the dvd gives a disk structure incorrect error.

Copying the files to the hard drive with anydvd enabled and then ripping from files on the hard drive I get an error message that it cannot find file VTS_01_5.VOB. This file does not exist on the DVD either.

There appears to still be a problem decyphering the disk structure.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

The CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD combination works. But when CloneDVD2 makes a copy of the movie, the iso is missing 4 files that were on the original DVD. Does anyone know what these four files are?

I have tried using Alcohol 120 to make a backup on my HD and it won't do it. There is always a read error at random percentages. I tried backing up using my Sony three times and the percent where it errors are all different. Same goes with my NEC.

I guess the only way to go with this movie is to use CloneDVD AnyDVD combo.

What ISO is missing? Why do you need an ISO? Did you create an ISO with CloneDVD?
The missing files (high numbered video title sets) are part of Sony's protection (dummy files) and are not copied.

"Rich86: so what's your point."

My point is that the movie studios go through all this trouble and expense to try to confound copying of this stuff and all it does is cause a determined quest to copy it anyway - with no additional sales of the original dvd as a result. So, why do they bother . . .

I have Lords of Dogtown unleased region 1 and had no trouble copying it with CloneDVD2 2.8.5.1 and AnyDVD 5.4.4.1.

DVDfabDecryptor is probably the easiest software out, especially if you already have AnyDVD. So, there is no time involved. It's free and all you do is input source, destination and click. There's no playing involved. I pefer CloneDVD because it's so fast, but you have to pay for it.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

I was having same problem with this movie as everyone else. Even with the latest and supposedly working AnyDVD, it would not work. DVD Decryptor nor DVD Shrink would complete without an error.

However I was able to get a working back-up using CloneDVD and AnyDVD, latest versions of both as of this writing.

It doesn't break the protection, it just copies it. So your back-up will also still be protected and will still not work with DVD Shrink or DVD Decryptor.

Just an FYI

Oh, actually I also used DVDFab Decryptor to dump the DVD to my Hard Drive which would still not load with DVD Shrink. I used this dump from my Hard Drive to import the DVD into CloneDVD. I don't think this step was neccisary, but I was just experimenting. ClondDVD with AnyDVD should work for a back-up, but not an un-protected back-up.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

I was using Clone DVD2 v2851 and AnyDVD v5411 and it would get to 1% then have a "cyclic redundancy check" error(the same one as everybody else), I updated to AnyDVD v5441 and I'm at 19% with no errors yet!

I have been using those 2 full versions...they don't work. I'll just skip backing this one up until another time.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

Try one last thing. do a CDspeed discan and quality scan of the pressed (manufactured) DVD. The only time I had a problem with AnyDVD/ CloneDVD it turned out there was a batch of poorly manufactured discs with a bunch of unreadable sectors.

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

Whoever cannot copy Lords of Dogtown with AnyDVD 5.4.4.1 & CloneDVD 2.8.5.1 has a serious problem. I copied it flawlessly with these two programs. Get a life or rather get anydvd 5.4.4.1 & CloneDVd 2.8.5.1

Re: Lords of Dogtown US Version

For those still having probs, too many posters ARE getting positive results using CloneDVD and AnyDVD. So your problem may be hardware related.

Please reconsider my suggestion in post #46 on page 2 of this thread. Just TRY ripping it in your other drive Using CloneDVD v.2.8.5.1 and AnyDVD v.5.4.4.1.

Also from now on lets identify whether we are talking about
1. The Theatrical rated R version
or
2. The Extended Unrated Cut AKA the "Unleashed" version.

IMDb and Amazon list only a region 1 release so I don't think region is a variable.
